Excellent move.

We have been in aft balconies quite a few time (including the Hawaii trip), but one of my favourite cruise memories was sitting out on our aft balcony one night with a bottle of wine chatting and watching as we sailed past some small Greek Islands.

We've booked an aft again when we go there on the Jade next year. 🙂

Yep, that was a fun Hawaiian Cruise; had really good neighbors. Hope to cruise with you and your family again. Got the same unit, center aft, for the Greek Isles.

What's the good, the bad and the ugly about these cabins.

OK...I know the good-large balcony, no wind

It's the bad and the ugly.  DH is concerned about noise and rumbling from the engine and also that it will be rocky.  Somewhere I heard that things from above (the buffet) can fly down.  And I think I heard about soot.

Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks

We had this for my first cruise, spoiled me rotten.

A side balcony just doesn't compare with those views and sounds from the aft.

Couldn't agree more. With a view range of close to 220 degrees, you see everything. Now granted, it's when you are leaving a port, but to just sit with a good red wine and reminisce about the day, just can't beat it.

The Aft balconies - whether Haven or non-Haven, are priced higher because they are the best spots on the ship. Also why the new Prima ship has added tons of aft cabins. The aft cabins sell out fast.

Views from the rear are the best - sunrise with a cup of Joe, sunset with a glass of wine or just watching the stars at night. It's just so peaceful you won't want to leave.

This part of the ship is very quiet but it is also removed from activity so you will be doing some walking.

Never had a problem with noise nor soot, nor the occasional rumble from the engines.

Go for it, you won't be sorry.
