Small red carved box won in a bridge game on Queen Mary 1 in 1930

My Mother sailed the original Queen in 1930 to England and I treasure a small red carved wood  box she won in a bridge game on that ship.  It fascinated me as a child and I still have it; although I have never sailed Cunard.  Anyone have treasures of old Cunard cruises?

Are you sure she sailed on the RMS Queen Mary in 1930?  I believe she was not launched until 1936…EM

Perhaps you are correct.  She was not married until 1941 and often mentioned the group that she travelled with during that time frame.  Thank-you for your reply.

Interesting topic, @lovetosew. I was hoping to have heard of some others' old Cunard treasures by now.

 

I remember my sister had a felt pennant of RMS Queen Elizabeth we bought from a vendor at the pier after we toured that Cunard liner in New York during the summer of 1961. That short visit to the original Queen Elizabeth was the only time I was ever on a Cunard ship during the 20th century and unfortunately that pennant is long gone.

 

One ocean liner treasure I have is a small trophy I won for finishing second in a chess tournament on board the SS Nieuw Amsterdam exactly 50 years ago this month during a transatlantic crossing from Le Havre to New York in August 1971. Of course that doesn't count as a Cunard treasure.
