Boarding Time on EDocs - Question for Recent Cruisers

My EDocs say that boarding starts at noon, but we chose a check-in time of 10-10:30 am when completing the online checkin.

 

Does this mean we have to hang around for an hour and a half at the pier before they will let us board the ship?

First off, you'll be tested at the pier which will kill some time.  Then you do the check in.  This will probably take about an hour more or less.  If the ship is cleared they will begin boarding.  We've gotten on a ship anywhere from 10:30 up to 2pm (Coast Guard Inspection).

Boarding time is almost always listed as 12 noon, but they will begin boarding as soon as possible.

You go at whatever time you signed up for. We had our test in Seattle at 1030 and we're on the ship prior to noon

So we picked a time, but besides showing the arrive at the terminal, it also shows "the time you have selected to arrive at the pier: Platinum Open" so does that mean we're still permitted to arrive whenever?

The ship is normally ready to board around 11:00 starting with Haven, 11:15 priority and 11:30 general boarding. 

 

That being said, COVID testing (waiting in line to register for a test, being tested, waiting for results) for us took over an hour followed by health screening and check-in. You won't be waiting to board.

In the old days you could show up anytime.  However, now with the staggered check-in and testing I would suggest you go for your scheduled time.  More than likely you could show up whenever, but why chance having to wait extra time.  Good luck!
