Good Morning, I am sailing the Rotterdam in January b2b2b. So excited as I just had several Carnival cruises canceled in December.

I booked my return flight at 12:06.  This flight is now departing at 11:30.

I am disembarking with a wheelchair.  What are my best options to get from the cruise port to the airport?  Thank you so much.

Assuming you have somebody to help, just take a taxi.   When you go outside the terminal you just follow the signs (and there should be folks pointing the way) to the nearby taxi queue.  A cab should be able to handle the wheelchair and you will be at the airport in about 10 min.  The cost of a taxi (for 2) is actually cheaper then cruise line transfers and you avoid the hassles with large buses.

If you need a van/taxi with a lift that is another story.  There will be somebody working at the head of the taxi crew and I assume (not positive) that they can summon a van/taxi.  The taxis for the port stage at a taxi holding area that is only a couple of minutes from the pier and, in theory, they should be able to summon a specially equipped van/taxi.  If you need extra help there are porters working inside the cruise terminal that can help (tips are expected).  Of course HAL have staff that will help you get off the ship (just ask).

When we last disembarked at Port Everglades (pre-Covid), my DH's wheelchair porter took us from the NA into the terminal. There DH stayed in the ship's wheelchair but the porters changed with a terminal porter now helping. After locating our luggage, that wheelchair porter along with a luggage porter escorted us to a special Customs line. Once cleared, they escorted us outside to the taxi stand and helped us load into a cab.

All very straightforward and easy. And, we very happily tipped each porter -- ship, terminal, luggage -- for their invaluable assistance as that type of help makes travel possible for us.

(Remember, this was pre-Covid. So, porter assistance may have changed.)

I would get off the ship as early as possible to start with.  Then catch a taxi, cost about $15 and takes 10 minutes or so.  This way you beat the "rush" of cruise ship buses and should not have a problem making a 11:40 flight.  Once the cruise line buses start arriving, lines to check bags and for security can become long, especially on weekends.

Thank you all so much. 🥰

Having cruised in and out of Fort L for years, we reduce our disembarkation day stress by booking a hotel in Fort L and fly home the day after the cruise.

Then, on disembarkation day, we enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then find nice area to wait until the push-and-shove herd is out of the way.

Much more enjoyable, especially if one has mobility issues.
