He does not work for Holland America Line, but apparently was invited to a press gathering along with other travel writers aboard. He wrote and this morning posted an excellent article about the Half Moon Bar:

I have enjoyed that cocktail. She did a perfect job of making it. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting this article about the Half Moon Bar.  We passed Half Moon Bar often but never stopped as the only seating is along the windows, also in view of people dining in the Club Orange restaurant.

So is this the layout?     Scott.

Disembarkation on Nov.10th took place near the Ocean Bar/New Casino Area on Deck 2.  So I took a glance for the Bulkhead in the middle which I didn't remember.  I was wrong and you are right Scott, there is a bulkhead there but the gaming area is on both sides of the bulkhead.  I noticed that the windows in this area were dark, filled with cloth like material.   I also counted 3 of the gold sofas and a few blue chairs from the original Ocean Bar near the windows and among the slot machines so there is some seating in the area, but not much.

I appreciate you posting this article.  Very interesting and a better use of that location than when it was "The Blend".

Thanks Vita girl - I've been trying to post these photos since getting on the ship and lost because I went the wrong way thinking I was seeing the Casino.  But yes, it is true, during the two days the Rotterdam was in Ft. Lauderdale, the Ocean Bar was repurposed into a non-smoking Casino.

I asked about the dance floor.  Response, what dance floor.

I asked about the band.  Response, the band is at the other end, down music walk.

It should be operational tonight.

To me ugly and disappointing.

Make sure to check the When and Where and don’t rely solely on the Navigator App.  I did that and missed Mass when it was moved from 5pm to 8am.  They’re not always good at updating the Navigator App to reflect changes in scheduling.

Good tip, thanks!

Any idea what the name of this cocktail is?  I assume it is not priced within the SBP but probably worth trying.

I can’t recall the name ( I want to say something like Bombarder) but crew members will know when you mention the Smokey Bourbon drink. On our recent MS Nieuw Amsterdam cruise they were aware but we’re waiting for a new smoker to be delivered. I’ve had it on other Hal ships.

Thanks anyhow.  Maybe I'll save the video and show the bartender.
