Thinking of changing to Radiance Balcony Guarantee

Hi,

 

Yep. I have never booked any “Guarantee” cabin.

It’s about $180 to go from my Inside to the Balcony.  This is a 3 Day cruise.

Actual experience info would be helpful.

As long as you are OK with any balcony cabin they could assign you, go for it.

Looking at the Radiance deck plans, my only potential concern is that you may be assigned a less desirable cabin location on Upper deck (deck 6) above either the Red Frog bar or the show theater, which I believe converts to the disco late night. Both have the potential for being noisy late into the night. I once received a guarantee balcony right above the Destiny's piano bar and we could hear every word sung. If you plan on staying up late it's not a big deal but if you go to bed earlier you might hear it. There's also a chance you could get a cabin on Verandah, underneath Lido, so you might hear chairs scraping, etc. (This personally doesn't bother me as much as the music playing.) As I'm sure you know, once you're assigned the cabin you're unlikely to have much luck getting reassigned.

I once had a guarantee balcony and I was assigned a cabin directly above the casino bandstand.  It was very noisy until 2:00 AM.  I’m not a night owl, and the noise bothered me a lot.  The speakers were on the floor of my cabin so you can imagine the noise.  That being said, I would still take a guarantee balcony over an inside cabin.  Then once assigned, if it seemed like it was in a noisy area, I would take ear plugs and hope for the best.  I just consider any balcony better than an inside.

If you get assigned to a noisy looking location, before the ship sails, you should be able to call up and move free to another cabin in the same category. .. unless it sells out.
