Canceling a Holland America Comped cruise

I am thinking of canceling my February cruise.  I would have to take a COVID test and then get on a plane to Florida before I know the results.  Flying out of Boston in the dead of winter only to (possibly) come up positive.  Then what?  Anyway, when I canceled a Celebrity cruise, they refunded me because they said that it is not legal for them to keep taxes and fees.  So why will HAL only offer me a credit?

I thought they had to refund your taxes and fees! I received one of those HAL comp cruises from my local casino and because  they hadn't started cruising again,I called and they refunded to my credit card. Call and ask for a supervisor.

So, I canceled ☹️ They will only refund my taxes and fees.  NOT the $200 that we each had to pay (it was to be given back as on board credit).  They will give us a credit that has to be used within a year.................Not going to happen!

I did not get an email about a Holland Casino cruise but booked one of their online offers for a $200 obstructed window.  A rep told me that was a casino cruise and we would get the $200 each back as onboard credit.  My booking does not say that.  Is she correct?

That is the way my casino offers have worked....

So I went on my first HAL cruise (not a comped cruise) last month. I received a letter in my cabin (that I didn’t keep) saying I was offered $600 (if I remember right) for casino

play for a future cruise. I didn’t think I’d be going again anytime soon, but have booked another cruise and now don’t know how to contact the right department.

Princess will also have you pay the $200 each deposit, that you get as an onboard credit. But if you cancel due to a Covid  positive test, they will refund the $400, along with the port chgs & fees. Funny - different for Carnival, the casino deposit is less-$100 per person, that becomes the onboard credit, but all three are in the same Carnival corp.
