Using a Future Cruise Credit

We just cancelled our 1/31 Anthem sailing & will be getting a FCC from the Sail with Confidence program. I am right in assuming that the credit will be only for the cruise fare portion, while the taxes paid will be returned to us directly? Also, when making a booking using the FCC, would I be correct to cancel assume that the credit will only be used for the cruise fare & we would have to pay the taxes on the new sailing separately?

Yes and yes.

Biker, who would have taken the refund instead.

Two weeks prior to sailing, I didn’t have the option of a refund.

Any sailing up to the end of the month is eligible for a refund, IF you ask for the refund due to protocol change, don't mention CWC.

Is that on Royal’s website? Can’t seem to find anything that says that. Thanks

It doesn't say that, I guess RCI don't advertise it, but we have lots of reports of folks getting the refund knowing the magic words to say (mask protocol) and which one not to say (CWC).

Just checked with our TA, & she said that was true up until the 1/17 sailing,(ours was the 31st), which now that she mentions it, I seem to remember reading somewhere in the past. Mind’s not what it used to be! Anyway, I’m satisfied with the FCC, even though the $$$ in my wallet would be nice. Now to search for another cruise!

Thanks for you help.

You may want to consider using a more informed TA - that 1/17 deadline was extended to the end of the month about two weeks ago.

Due to the latest public health evaluation, we have extended our latest mask protocol to sailings departing on or before January 31, 2022, at which point it will be reevaluated. The policy remains the same and requires all guests to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status, at all times indoors except while eating or drinking. This includes at venues reserved for vaccinated guests only. In alignment with the expansion of the mask policy, smoking will not be permitted in the casino for all cruises departing on or before January 31, 2022.

I think that pertains to mask protocols only.

A week or so ago we canceled our March 6 sailing on Anthem. The deposit was our $710 FCC we got for canceling an April 2020 before RC did.  We just got back our new FCC certificate (great). But it was only for $65 (not so great). I did send an email to our TA to look into it. Any thoughts?

You might be able to get an explanation directly from RCI on an FCC issue - call them.

Their calling hours online seem to be incorrect. Does anyone have the updated hours?

I just thought of something that might have caused this tiny FCC. My TA assured me when I took a non refundable deposit that since it was a FCC, it would be refundable. Was that inaccurate?

It was covered under CWC so if cancelled all penalties are waived and you get the entire amount as an FCC

Is this how the FCC works? A "certificate"? How exactly can it be applied to another cruise already booked for 2023?

I assumed that is true. I did just get off the phone with RC about this issue. They said TA has to handle it. Sent an email to my TA.
