Embassy Suites near SFO

Cruising out of San Francisco and need a hotel the night before. Someone mentioned the Embassy Suites was nice. When searching I see there are two close to SFO. Which one would be the best choice?  Are they both easy to get to?  What about getting to the port?  Also we are open to other suggestions. We are doing a tour after our cruise to see some of the highlights.

You realize the airport is 30-40 mins from the port, which is in downtown? There isn't a lot of reason to stay by the airport.

 

Both Embassy Suites have airport shuttles. Getting to the port is an Uber ride.

Unless I was coming in later at night (8PM or later) I would not use either. I'd stay in San Francisco.

 

If my flight did arrive later at nights, I'd choose the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Francisco Airport Waterfront in Burlingame.

My thinking was I will have to use Uber or something to get to the port either when I arrive or the next day. The hotels by the port are more expensive so I figured I just as well stay by the airport.

It depends on which hotels you are looking at.  You don't need to be right at the port. SF is a small city.

 

What time are you arriving? I can't imagine not going into SF, one of the top five cities in the U.S. for food, and instead stay by the airport.

I like staying at the Parc55 (a Hilton hotel).  Hilton is a block away. as backup if Parc55 is closed

• BART subway out of airport
• hotel is next door to the Powell Street BART Station
• taxi or F line street car to the cruise terminal for embarkation
• cable car depot is a block away

The Hotel Union Square is a cool place to stay.

You can't take checked bags on the F line.

We have stayed at both many times, either pre-cruise or pre-international flights.  I like the ES in Burlingame the best.  Much better views from the bar.

Which hotels are you looking at? What kind of rates are you seeing? What is your budget for the night?

Embassy Suites Waterfront is my pre-flight hotel at SFO.  I've been staying there almost since the place opened.  I can't think of a single negative ... and I'm a picky traveller.
