Naming Cunard's new ship Queen Anne

Having read that Cunard will name its new ship Queen Anne, I started reading a bit about her life and times. Do you think Cunard have made a good choice?

I do not understand all the interest in whether its a good name or a bad name as all it is is the name of the ship. Some people are getting hot up about the name Queen Anne and I do not really see why.

It seems Cunard has now used the name of every British queen (in her own right, not matrimonial) since 1066 save one.   When does Jane Grey get her turn?

Well, didn't she sort of abdicate when she conceded the throne to Stephen of Blois ... in exchange for guaranteeing that Plantagenet upstart, Henry, a place in line?

 

Anyway - I am still pulling for Boadicea --- arguably the last really British queen ----- all the rest have a lot of German and Dutch blood -- and even some Italian, thanks to Catherine di Medici.

 

But, do we want this discussion to devolve into some  version of

The Real Housewives Of Windsor?
