Jordanyaya1 Posted February 11, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2022 We are booked on Apex in a Sunset Veranda. Since we are the extreme end of the ship I’m curious how the wifi works. I’m considering upgrading to the Premium wifi package but don’t want to waste my money.
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted February 11, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2022 (edited) We had no problems with internet service on the balcony or in our aft-facing SV cabin back in Nov as there is a router inside the closet near the bathroom door! We also had to upgrade to Streaming as I enjoy posting on CC and my DW has to periodically access the Go Daddy, both of which are multi-tiered websites and require more bandwidth that the Basic Surf package offers when there is roughly over 1100 passengers on board. I did a brief study a little while ago using information gathered from folks on CC who recently cruised on different Celebrity ships and around 1100 seemed to be the point when service started to deteriorate fast. Rare KKB Posted February 11, 2022 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2022 We were on the Edge in SV last summer with regular Wifi. There were occasional times that it had issues but overall it was fine.
Rare cruisestitch Posted February 11, 2022 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2022 Where are you are in the world will also make a huge difference. Most of the Caribbean is fine but sometimes when you are very far east, as in Barbados, you run into trouble getting reliable access. The same is true in parts of Norway and parts of Chile. publicpersona Posted February 12, 2022 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2022 Being aft shouldn't be a concern. The wifi points of presence are located nearby every stateroom on the ship. Wifi doesn't travel very far on a ship, so it wouldn't work otherwise. As for how good an Internet connection the ship has, that is highly dependent on where the ship is, as noted above. jwlane Posted February 13, 2022 #6 Share Posted February 13, 2022 Worked perfectly last week in 11272.
Islandhop9 Posted February 14, 2022 #7 Share Posted February 14, 2022 Was fine last week. We only had an issue during some heavy downpours which I suspect caused issues for all.
