Merion_Mom Posted February 24, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Again. :) How many of you think that it's time for the Travel Channel to: 1. Stop showing so much d***ed poker. 2. Get/make some NEW cruise-related shows. Raise your hands, please.
PhoenixCruiser Posted February 24, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2006 1. No, I LOVE watching poker, in fact I'm in a tourney in 3 minutes. 2. YES, YES, YES, please.... ###
GMoney Posted February 24, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Thanks to these boards, I don't think there are any cruise ship secrets! :D
dexter Posted February 24, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Good question...what does poker have to do with travel and furthermore what does poker have to do with sports (they show it on ESPN). Show more cruise stuff on the travel channel or more hotel type shows.

wework2play Posted February 24, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted February 24, 2006 I rarely have time to watch TV, my treat is reading these boards for a few minutes here and there. Someone who has seen this show- is it worth watching? I don't want to take the time if it is stupid. I'm leaving town in the a.m., but I'm making time to watch it between everything else I'm trying to get done tonight. Thanks Cruise Critic cool cruisers. (What the heck is a cool cruiser anyway?):D
wework2play Posted February 24, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted February 24, 2006 How did some of you get to be a blue ribbon cruiser? By posting so many threads? Kind of like an ebay power seller? Just kidding. I better get off here and get busy.

lv2bcruzin Posted February 24, 2006 #11 Share Posted February 24, 2006 WooHoo. Thanks for the post. Is there anywhere to go to find out what cruise shows are on? I was just thinking the other day that they need to make another cruise movie. And, voila, Poseidon is made, granted it's a remake.
wrp96 Posted February 24, 2006 #12 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Okay, who's taping it for me? Carol? Anyone? The hotel I'm at doesn't have the Travel Channel.
Merion_Mom Posted February 24, 2006 #13 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Are you telling me, YOU, WRONA, the cruise-addicted, cruise-obsessed young attorney-about-to-be, that YOU have NEVER seen this show???????
beachchick Posted February 24, 2006 #14 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Really, they could at least do an updated one. Isn't the one they're showing the one that has a thing about the US Patriot? It's been out of service for about 5 years now for pity's sake! They should do something new and I agree about the poker. What does poker have to do with travel? There are so darn many "look at rich celebrities play cards" and "world championship poker" shows that one night, there were "games" on 5 channels at the same time. Enough already. beachchick
Carolrd Posted February 24, 2006 #15 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Oh, I love Samantha Brown! I love her too!! The travel channel recently aired Sam on her first cruise. It was on the Brillance of the Seas. Carol
dfa1 Posted February 24, 2006 #16 Share Posted February 24, 2006 I think the Travel Channel has some fairly new shows documenting the refit of a couple of RCCL ships, but most of their cruise material is ancient. I am however betting that they will have a new episode by year's end on FOS, similar to what they did for QM2.
Cape Cruiser 2007 Posted February 24, 2006 #17 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Ah, I stayed up to watch -basically- a rerun! No cruise secrets there! You all here in CC aught to make a real cruise secret show!
fanofseas Posted February 24, 2006 #18 Share Posted February 24, 2006 I think someone should start ....The Cruise Channel!. If they can have a Golf and Food channel we can have a channel just for us. But no gambling or ghost on at anytime.
Barbee524 Posted February 24, 2006 #19 Share Posted February 24, 2006 I have seen this show almost every time it has been on and yet I watched it again last night and would watch it agan tonight if it was on. Just goes to show I'll do anything to day dream about cruising. Can't think of any cure for this problem other than more cruising.
ORANGEinINDY Posted February 24, 2006 #20 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Does the CREW really have that much fun?????Seemed like a lot of activities for them. And... everyone talks about bringing nice gifts for their attendant/waiter.. maybe those guys could buy me some beers! They're getting a better price than me:D ... maybe: 'black-market crew beers'... next on Geraldo
raina*faith Posted February 24, 2006 #21 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Sorry I missed the show! I think I've seen it though. I'm often on the Travel Channel. I remember the Radisson of the Seas on one show, some thing like "Dry Dock"? Anyhoo~ thanks for the post!
wolfcathorse Posted February 24, 2006 #22 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Cruise ship secrets was from 2001. The crew is paid so cheap that a .75 beer is still a chunk out of their wages. I'd like to see the Travel Channel do a series on what life is like for the captain. Shadow him/her from the time they get up (what time do they??) to the time they get some rest. How do they deal with various situations that arise among crew, passengers, or ship. But then Capt Johnny's book wouldn't sell so well anymore! :) In fact, shadow a waiter or other crew/staff member too, I don't think they have that much time for fun.
