Zoom and internet calls onboard

Recommended Posts

I assume you mean "Voom", which is RCCL's Internet at sea service, and not "Zoom", the online meeting software?  If your phone and carrier supports wifi calling (you must set it up and try it at home first!), then yes, RCCL's Voom Internet at sea service will support it.  Just put your phone in Airplane Mode, turn on wifi, login to your RCCL Voom account and turn on wifi calling.

Lol!  Yes I meant Voom   That’s what I get with autocorrect and no glasses.  I guess I need to read what autocorrect thinks I mean a little closer.

None - use the built in Wi-Fi calling feature of your phone - set it up now at home and try it.

Thank you!  I am not super techy and I have never intentionally used this option (I have an iPhone).  I had it set up and it worked.  Thanks so much!

I live in a dungeon and my cell signal is weak on a good day.  I keep my Wi-Fi Calling turned on at all times, and the phone automatically uses whichever signal is best in any given situation.  Unless I look, I never know if I'm making a cell call or a Wi-Fi call.

The only thing is to always make sure you go into Airplane Mode on the ship with Wi-Fi turned on, so your phone doesn't go seeking a (very expensive!) ship cell signal.

I have always scoped out the card room or the library to find a place to make a call. Just be quiet if people are there. Your phone microphone is very sensitive and can hear a whisper. Those rooms are usually empty and the areas of the ship that they are in are usually low on the passenger count as well, so better overall service. Except Oasis class. The best place on those would be sitting on the couches near blaze.
