“Downgrade” to Concierge

I have a sunset veranda booked for a Celebrity cruise in November. Currently on the Celebrity website a sunset veranda on my particular cruise is $2900 per person( I paid substantially less when I booked in December) The concierge category is $2650 p/p….and there is an aft facing (sunset) balcony available. If I call Celebrity and wait on hold for an hour…what can I expect?I received $ 700 OBC when I booked…if I switch will I retain? Is it possible to upgrade to Concierge and ask for OBC for the difference in fare?

Thank you!

SV to Concierge is considered an upgrade according to Celebrity category rankings.   Any change of category like this would cause a reprice with prevailing rates and promo.

Generally after final payment they would allow an upgrade if the new category was more $, at least $1.   Occasionally if the new category was less they would allow the change for what you paid but there would be on accommodation for the difference.  But some times even that was not allowed.

Best advice I can give is to call and see what they might offer, then you can decide.

If I am understanding your situation correctly, you want to upgrade from a Sunset Veranda to a Concierge Cabin on the aft of the ship.  However, you are comparing the current pricing of both categories.  When you upgrade, you use the price you paid for your Sunset Veranda and the current price of the Concierge cabin to determine the difference you will pay.  You compare the current price of the Concierge at $2650 to the price you paid for the Sunset Veranda, which I assume is less.

Yes I failed to note that you paid substantially less.  When doing any type of reprice it's the difference between what you paid and the prevailing rate.  The prevailing rate on your existing cabin makes no difference unless you are repricing your cabin for a price drop.

Suggestions :

1--- If you have a TA , call them as they are more familiar with situations like this.

2--- While I'm not a TA , I think that once you change a current reservation, you are starting over with a new reservation and any difference in price would be in effect. Also, the OBC that the Cruise Company or even your TA offered might change. It's all based on what you pay for the cruise.

3--- Before you make any changes, confirm that the stateroom is still available-- just in case someone else grabbed it in the meantime.

Why do you want concierge? I get an aqua class upgrade for Blu, but all you get for concierge is a MDR lunch on day 1.
