Bar tab - can use for tips?

Before snarling....I searched and searched first before posting.

 

We got the free $300 bar tab credit for our November VL cruise.  However, we are mega and get a free bar tab anyway - so no way to use it.  (No, even being free my wife would not buy a bottle of wine over the free tab limit). 

 

Our question is - can we use the November bar tab credit for tips, as we plan to spend lots of time at the Mezcal bar?

As far as I know there's no current way to even add any sort of tips other than cash... There are no receipts given, thus no way to add anything additional...

Yep. Tips are included for all crew in your voyage fare. They don’t actually have a way of taking extra tips from you.

You can use it to buy things above and beyond the mega rockstar inclusions (i.e., extra bottles of wine, bottles of wine above $90 and drinks above $25, which are basically only expensive spirits - we saw it as a challenge to see how creative we could get to hit $25/cocktail because most mixed drinks were so reasonably priced).  There were definitely a ton of tequilas & mezcals that were above $25/pour if you want to treat yourself!

 

If you don't use it all, that's basically just a "tip" to Virgin because it's use it or lose it.

Like _tacocat_ pointed out, we intend on getting some nice pours of tequila and mezcal with our extra $300. Plan is to ask our mega agent to setup a tasting to get an idea of what we like, then try the rare stuff. On the Rocks also has a very nice whisky selection.

You can claim your own $300 bar tab as they are offering it to anyone sailing in November. If you don't have it on your app, call them

If you make friends on board, you can use the bar tab to buy them drinks. It is unlike other ships drink packages.

If you had purchased this bar tab, VV would have refunded it.  Since it is a free bar tab, you can use it for any item not covered on your rockstar benefits or use it to treat any of your new best friends on the trip.  You aren't losing anything as it was free to begin with.
 

No, you can't tip with it.  Your cruise fare includes all tips.  The only way to give an extra tip to someone is in cash. This isn't expected, but I've never seen anyone on any line turn down an extra tip!
