Oceania Vista PH cabin question

Hi all!  we are looking to book a cruise from Miami in November 2023 on Vista.  will be bringing my mom and so for three people, we will be booking our first penthouse suite for the extra room.  very excited! 🙂  we've been on one Oceania cruise (to Alaska) and it was phenomenal.  the selection of PH suites with sofa beds is very limited, and there is one PH3 on deck 7, room 7017.  i'm concerned about the balcony as this is the last room with a "narrow" balcony before the extended balconies in the aft cabins.  i've been scouring the boards to learn about similar cabins on Marina and Rivieria, but i can't find much at all (sorry if i missed something).  some people say that the aft cabins with extended balconies are very windy, so maybe it's best to have the narrow balcony?  or will our view be cut off by the adjacent extended balcony?  also it would be great to be able to have a lounger on the balcony, which may not be possible without the extended space.  i would love to book 7017 if this is ok, versus needing to book a PH1 or PH2 on deck 10/11 - as there is some concern on the boards about being located under the pool deck or terrace cafe.  any wisdom would be appreciated. 🙂 thank you!!

 Do you mean 7107 ?

The wind issue on the O class ships  is the 1st extended balcony  in the aft section  they are open on 2 sides  so will get the wind when underway

Ideally  better to get a cabin  with no public areas above you

it would be  a squeeze having loungers on the regular balconies  IMO

ack i'm so sorry - yes i meant 7107, sigh.  thank you so much. 🙂 deck 7 would be good then b/c there are no public spaces on deck 8.  if the "narrow" deck isn't too bad, then maybe will stay with 7107.  thank you!

We have that stateroom booked for our 1/9/2024 cruise from Miami.  It appears to be just above the check-in area for the main dining room. Also sailing with a 3rd person, and those options seemed to be limited for Penthouse accomodations.

thank you so much! 🙂 it looks like this cabin might be taken now, but will see... appreciate all the thoughts.  i think i will just stop searching and be happy with whatever we get. 😉  thank you!

Enjoy

Not sure if it is an option budget wise but  there are some Solo Concierge  cabins  (S)  Deck 9 that may work  if the budget allows

Then your Mom could have her own space

Looks like extended balconies as well

thank you so much - we looked into that, it's more expensive than getting a PH, but we are looking at all options 🙂 thank you!  i'm sorry - i know this has been discussed on other threads, but now i'm weighing getting a room forward (worried about movement) vs aft under the terrace cafe.  if any additional wisdom on this decision, please let me know.  thank you! 🙂

We have been in 11023 on Riviera for over a month, great location. We had been in 11065 on that trip and that was terrible for noise so do not consider anything near Waves or Terrace Cafe entrance. Really, any PH on Deck 10 is quiet since there are only staterooms above and below you, you just need a room for 3.

We will be on Vista a couple times, 11019 in May and then again in 11073 with an expanded balcony to try one of them out in the Fall. Unless you are sailing somewhere with notoriously rough weather, you should be fine with the motion of the ocean.  Besides, a little patch behind the ear can do wonders if that is a concern.
Enjoy your cruise.

@elidance

One thing about Oceania bookings, don’t hesitate, the ships are not that big.  Pick something that works for you but may not be perfect.  Once booked, you can ask your TA or O Specialist to Waitlist you in other Categories to improve your room location. accept the change if you get something better for the 3 of you, otherwise it is just an exercise in patience.
Feel free to ask questions on this Board because there are lots of experienced and knowledgeable Oceania Loyalists here to help you out.

For  me I do not book anything forward the  forward elevators

There will be motion plus the anchor noise of you have tender ports

I prefer mid or aft  but YMMV

No one knows if  there will be noise under the Terrace or pool deck  but  usually on the other ships there is  so on Vista is may still be the case

Find out  what cabins are left to book  then make the booking  you can always take  a few days  & change of you decide  it is still not  good

The ship will be booked up soon  everyone wants to be on the Vista  😉

thank you!  we called asap this morning, and now have room 11030 reserved - next to executive lounge.  sort of mid ship 🙂  not many options left for 3 person rooms, fingers crossed. 🙂  we booked with Oceania, and will transfer to a travel agent (i learned this from the CC boards 🙂) - do any of you have a recommended TA?  it seems best to go through the connoisseur club, but i think there are a few different agents within this.  happy new year everyone!

As for YMMV, we stayed in 6012 on Sirena 11/22, far forward port. Didn't notice any anchor noise or noise from the Deck 5 main lounge/stage, but then I sleep with ear plugs and we would get up early for the port days.

Also stayed in 9136 on Riviera, 12/21. Far aft, port. Not sure I noticed that much different regading motion from 6012 on Sirena.

CC does not allow TA recommendations, unfortunately.

For future use, perhaps ask once on board from others on your Roll Call or any other passengers.

Hi all,

sorry to post again.  we reserved PH1 room 11030 on Vista for a November 2023 cruise to the Caribbean (through Oceania), and right now we are working on finding a travel agent.  in the process of doing this, we've discovered that PH3 room 7107 is actually still available.  while i'm sure either would be fine, i wanted to ask opinions given the wisdom and experience of this group.  we like that room 11030 is closer to the top deck amenities including bar, library, gym, executive lounge, etc.  however it is located below the pool area/waves bar.  room 7107's balcony maybe has an obstructed view as it is the first "narrower" balcony before the aft extended balconies.  and maybe it's not as ideal a location, i'm not sure.  possibly more movement of the ship given its aft location, but maybe less noise because only cabins above on deck 8?  definitely a cost savings to PH3, so trying to decide which one to take (need a 3 person room.)

any thoughts would be appreciated. 🙂 excited no matter what.  thank you!!
