Piraeus Athens

Happy New Year!

Can anyone recommend a hotel very close to the Piraeus cruise port in Athens? I couldn't find any information in the Ports of Call pages.

We stayed at the Savoy Hotel which is a 3 star so very basic, but cheap with free breakfast and wifi. Cab to the port was under ten euro.

We stayed at the Hotel Phidlias.  Close to the port -- shuttle to the port.  They were very nice.  They stored our bags for 3 days between cruises.  The beds are hard but I like a really soft mattress.

That looks a like a nice hotel and not too badly located, close enough to the museums and very close to the marina.

We stayed overnight on the ferry, which didn't leave port because of rough seas.  There was a near riot when they wouldn't let passengers off the ship.

Best you could probably say about that was it made a story to tell?

Yes, we were lucky to have booked a cabin.  The biggest story was a big dog, being shifted by a dog handler across the foyer, doing the biggest dog poo I've ever seen (on a packed ferry)! 

Lesson learnt don't travel without bookings in the off season.  Everything was closed!!

We also stayed there in November, reasonably priced, breakfast included and shuttle to the port.

You don't get that on the average cruise ship.
