Not unless you are in concierge class, the Retreat, are a back to back passenger, or Zenith.

I don't remember if the burger place by the pool is open on embarkation.

 

Also, are some of the specialty restaurants open for lunch on embarkation>

The mast Grill should be open.  
 

once in a while the Sushi place is open.

 
other specialty restaurants, no.

 

this is on M and S class ships.  What you might find on an e class ship, I don’t know

I once read a post suggesting the Spa cafe is, but I’ve never checked it out.

My app says the buffet, poolside grill, sushi are open on the Summit, but the spa cafe, Tuscan, and the MDR are not. (For regular veranda passengers like me anyway)

Is MDR open at all during lunch? No hours are mentioned in the app,  is this a mistake?

On embarkation day it is only open for concierge class passengers and back to back passengers and zeniths.  Otherwise, it will be open for lunch on Sea days, but closed on port days at lunch

Great to hear, thanks for the info. The app did not have lunch hours and I was hoping maybe it was just out-of-date.
