Alaska Cruise Embarkation Point - Seattle or Vancouver?

As another poster stated, do the one way, ether Vancouver to Seward or Seward to Vancouver. Alaska has so much more to offer than what you will see from a cruise ship. By starting or ending in Seward, you'll have the opportunity to see a little of the Alaskan interior. To make the trip even better, consider a few days (a week?) before or after your cruise to see more of the interior.

On the other hand, ships sailing from Vancouver follow the inside passage between Vancouver Island and the Canadian mainland.  That part of the cruise is stunning.  In addition, Vancouver, BC is a beautiful world class city.  It is a wonderful place to visit.

This is what I was going to say.  One benefit of Vancouver is getting to see the inside passage.

Having said that, we are leaving out of Seattle in July.  My entire side of the family is going (16 folks spread among 6 balcony cabins).  One of my sisters lives in Seattle so that kind of made the decision for us.

We'd love to take the time to see more of Alaska and BC, however we both still work and cannot take so much time off our respective jobs.  Perhaps once (IF) we retire, we'll take the time to do so.  I vagabonded around southeast Alaska about 30 years ago and have always wanted to go back, but in a bit more comfortable manner!

Thanks.

We look mainly at travel costs and Seattle works best for us (less expensive and better options to get home in 2 flight segments).  We have sailed out of Vancouver as well and it is nice but that terminal can be very hectic as well.  Pier 66 in Seattle was perfect for a light passenger sailing.  Have sailed Pier 91 several years and it is hectic getting into the front of the terminal (we tend to hop out and walk which is not everyone's choice.  Once inside we were on board quickly so the actual terminal did not make an impression.
