Does the konsingdam have any pickle ball courts ?

As the exclusive Official Cruise Line of the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA), that's what you can find on Holland America Line. All ships in our fleet feature pickleball courts with amazing top-deck views that will be refreshed by February 2023, including adding new PPA Tour partner logos.Dec 19, 2022

On-board right now. This week the daily program of activities featured beginner then intermediate lessons, and today featured a pickleball tournament!

Can you tell me who the cruise director is?

does anyone know if there are open courts during the day?  is it a dedicated pb court, or shared use (with basketball maybe)?  is there any type of reservation system, or first-come/first-serve?

thx

It might depend on the ship.

We have never seen a reservation system for the Pickleball/Basketball courts...  It has always been first come, first served.  Having said that, we have not sailed on any of the ships that have dedicated Pickleball courts...

Before Pickleball's surge in popularity on HA ships we simply arranged to play at a certain time with like-minded guests. It sounds like there is now more scheduled play, so hopefully the cruise director will look in from time to time just to keep things running smoothly.

Will be on the Rotterdam in February.  Are paddles provided?  Are they in acceptable shape?  TYIA

The paddles take a lot of use/abuse so I would suggest that you bring your own, as well as a few balls.

I agree with daisy-mae!  They have paddles which are better than nothing, however, your own paddles would be a better option.  Many guests are willing to share their paddles if you don't have your own.  Also, take some of your own balls (for outdoor play).  We were on a 14-day cruise out of Amsterdam and all of the ship's balls were broken.  Because our ports were smaller in nature, they couldn't get new balls for days.  We created our own version of Pickleball using tennis balls as a short-term solution...it was fun, challenging, and we were still on a Pickleball court...  lol  So, Pickleball balls are now on my standard cruise packing list.

Copper, do you happen to know who the Captain and CD will be on the NS in March?

Nieuw Statie's captain will be either Capt. Noel O'Driscoll from, you guessed it, Ireland, or Capt. Eric Barhorst from The Netherlands. Not sure about the CD
