Difference between a Collector’s Voyage and a Grand Voyage?

Our upcoming cruise, Auckland to Vancouver, is a 39 day Collector’s Voyage. A similar cruise of 36 days next year is called a Grand Voyage. Is it just marketing?

Curious🤷‍♀️

What I consider a Grand Voyage is a longer cruise from a US port that returns to that same port, and visits a far off area such as the Grand Africa, Grand South America and Antarctica, and Grand Australia cruise.  A collectors voyage is two B2B cruises.  This is my impression and someone else may have a more complete definition.

The cruise you are looking at next year may be a segment of a Grand Voyage.  Grand Voyages are different than Collectors’ cruises.  There are usually gifts, better food, etc on the Grand Voyages.

A collectors’ cruise is a cruise that is composed of different segments of a cruise (ie a B2B normally).  People can book one leg or the other leg or the collectors’ cruise.  Normally a collectors’ cruise offers a small savings over booking the two B2B’s

Massive difference.  World Cruise is an example of a Grand Cruise, as are the Grand South America and Grand Africa.  On a Collectors's such as that one in March - April, NZ to Vancouver, it will be two regular cruises.  Possibly a couple of extras like more professional lectures, more entertainment, but nothing like the all-out special events on a Grand.  Used to be that Collectors received extras like a complimentary Pinnacle dinner/lunch, a bottle of wine, but I haven't personally seen that post-pandemic. Enjoy your cruise, the Noordam is a lovely ship. older, but very comfortable. In September the crew/officers were outstanding and some may be on that cruise :)

Grand cruises tend to be longer than cruises that can be booked individually, although it is possible for a grand cruise to have two segments that can be booked one or the other.
The Grand cruises not only have the pillow gifts already mentioned, but also have better food and better entertainment offerings. Sometimes even special pillow chocolates on formal/gala/dressy evenings.
They tend to go to more exotic and off the beaten path ports. The cream of the crop staff and crew are aboard.
