It was always an Upgrade and OBC if you volunteered and they always got enough volunteers when they upped the offer enough.

Thanks. I forgot about cabin upgrades.

I don’t think that getting ‘bumped’ off cruises is anywhere near as common as flights. There are very few reports of it on here.

True.

In think there are more reports of being bumped off a ship because the ship has been chartered than being bumped because of the ship being overbooked.

Since we fly in and book air months in advance, we could not move our trip to another date. Having to notify our clients/parents (my wife and I run an in-home daycare) there is no way we could expect them to adjust their alternative daycare plans while we move our vacation dates.

Reminds me of when we had a cruise booked on Carnival with some friends and a couple of months before are trip the ship caught fire. We got reimbursed with some extra perks, but the air was booked to LA so we moved over to a Princess cruise at the same time.

We weren't bumped. but were asked by P&O if we'd take a similar balcony cabin two decks lower.

We were offered an enormous amount of OBC in return, which we used for ship's tours and wine for the table of 8 towards the end of the cruise.

We discovered on board that our original cabin had been immediately behind the captain's cabin. He had docked that morning after a world cruise and was leaving that evening for a 3 week cruise to Venice, so his wife and small children had asked to go with him.

On our return there was a cheque each for £70.
