Monarch 3 Day Late seating question ???

Recommended Posts

We plan on doing the late seating for a few reasons.....a) you have more time after day in Ensenada to get ready b) there are fewer kids as they tend to be at 1st seating (so I hear) c) a more leisurely pace.

But I have ANOTHER question about this......I would love to have a table with an ocean view and I'm sure I can tip the Maitre'd for this but is it worth it if we have late seating and there is no sun???? Should I just be happy to be closest to the chocolate bar as to the window as the sun is down? Or is this also the same table we will be at for breakfast and lunch and therefore I need the BEST table??? HMMMM...Now I have to be CUNNING! Please help me so my Mom gets the best table I can get her.....I'm williing to tip!!! After all, I'm from Vegas!:)

I have never done the late seating so I couldn't say what you would see by the window. As far as breakfast and lunch you will be at different tables. When we did breakfast in the dining room, they just seated people as they came in until the table was full and then moved to the next table.

I wouldn't spend any extra $$ to get moved by the window. Yes--if all you want to do is stare at the ocean, go for it, but what about your tablemates? Hopefully, you will be chatting with them, and not staring out the window. Can't you look at the sea before you come to dinner? Almost every table in the dining room is good-- (there are a few exceptions) For 3 days--I would take what I had and save my money!

Don't worry about being next to a window, it will be dark and you won't be able to see anything anyway.

I've gone in there to check out my table in advance, they didn't much like me being in there, but allowed it. Only one time have we been seated away from the windows, in the center, it really didn't matter. So, check it out once you're onboard, the Maitre d' will be outside the dining room in the afternoon of the first day, to make any changes. There was a long line of people waiting to change on our last little cruise with them.

As far as more time in Ensenada, well, you all have to be back onboard by 5pm anyway. Unless you take more than an hour and a half to get ready, it doesn't make much difference. We prefer late seating because we like to relax and not hurry in the late afternoon. The Ensenada day will be nice for you to come back at your leisure and perhaps take a nap. We just stay aboard the ship in Ensenada anyway, it's a great vacation day for us, we always have the pool to ourselves.

Depends on the time of year you are cruising. If it's during Daylight Savings, then there will be light from 8 - 9 PM, and the ocean view is very nice. Otherwise, you'll be looking at a dark window.

The dining room requests start about 1 PM on the first day, but not always in the dining room. Go and ask where the maitre d' is doing this, and go EARLY.

If the table is a large oval one, then go to dinner early and sit on the side facing the window, as it might be parallel to the window, not sticking out from the wall.
