Cabin keys

Does celebrity still use to credit card style keycard to get into you cabin or did they go towards some other kind of entry  i.e. medallion, phone scan etc. 

 

I vaguely remember some talk about them changing.

They still use the credit card style key card although some ships also have the option to use your phone.

Or is more trouble than it's worth. My memory is you can't add your key to your Apple wallet, for instance, so you have to open the app, I think select the key option (not the right term, but that's the theory), and then hold the phone up to the door. And sometimes it doesn't work...

Phone option worked great in November:  the wife never can keep track of her key card, but her cell phone has become an appendage............her phone saved her many trips to guest services during the cruise!  We highly recommend!

They use a RFID Card and also at least on the Revolutionized Ships you can use your smart phone with the app.
