Odessey and under 16??

The kids sale free unfortunately doesn't work for me... I don't want my kids all over my room so we book connecting rooms and it works perfectly for us. It did however work for us for when we booked the family infinity balcony room which looks amazing on the new ICON. I just wish it was under the suite section... OH well. I don't go on vacation for the food and all the nightly shows - but I do like being together as a family during the day and I also love the kids club that is free at night up until 10pm. Honestly I feel like if your kid can act like an adult then people will be OK in the Solarium.. but when I travel with a 4 and 8 yr old who are good kids I still don't  take them to certain areas out of respect of others. Otherwise those people would be out with everyone outside, Just my 2 cents. You have to remember the cruise line provides other activities for kids, youth and teens for free too... Best way to vacation in my option!!

It's because adults don't want to hang out with 13 year olds. They want their own private spot for peace and quiet. I say that as the mother of a 15-year-old. I will pay extra to not be around his goofy friends on a cruise.

Anyone else surprised that the OP upset about this has over 1200 posts on CC? seems like a single or low double digit complaint.

Should know by now that experienced cruisers with petty complaints about well-publicized policies don't get much sympathy when their sense of entitlement gets offended.

Post counts are not to be confused with cruise experience.   Post counts are actually pretty meaningless other than we spend a lot of time on these forums.  Lol.

I have to pay an adult price for my 13 year old daughter and I am reading she will not be  allowed in the solarium pool on Odessey out of Cape Liberty...Why??  If I pay any adult price for her to cruise on royal, why is she excluded??

I've never heard of "adult fares".  There are fares.  Sometimes there are sales for children, like kids sale free.   Sometimes there are sales for all ages, like a discount for 3rd & 4th in a cabin.   Rules are applicable no matter if full or discounted fare was paid.

So ...why charge adult prices if she is excluded from all adult venues??

Why do Some Cruise Lines Charge the Same Rate for Babies as Adults?

Though babies and toddlers clearly do not consume nearly as much food and drink, nor partake in the same activities as their parents, babies still create extra cleanup and housekeeping work that the ship’s crew ultimately must take care of. On top of creating extra work for the crew, babies also do not make the onboard purchases that their parents do, such as specialty dining, drinks, casino chips, etc.
