GWS Giants to play Collingwood Magpies in the first semi final next weekend.

Carlton Blues to play Brisbane Lions in the 2nd semi final.

The winners will play in the Grand final.

They can call them whatever they like, when 4 teams playoff with the 2 winners going through to the Grand final, then they are semis by nature.

AFL - Collingwood Magpies vs Brisbane Lions.

NRL - Penrith Panthers vs Brisbane Broncos.

Lions in AFL for me, don't really care who wins NRL, but I'm sure the Penrith and Broncos' fans do. Good luck to the teams involved.

I checked the scores this morning. A close one between Collingwood and the Giants. I don't think it was shown here, which is a little odd since these games usually are. Or maybe I never saw it in the listings--too early in the morning.

 

I'll go with Brisbane and hope we get to see the game here!

It was on TV here. I tried to stay awake but fell asleep after the 1Q. I think I missed a good game.

 

I didn't realize Collingwood had such a great history of GF wins. Good on 'em 😉

Yeah, many of the other teams hate Collingwood and their supporters but them it tends to happen when a team is doing better than yours and you don't think they are worthy (due to either racist, religious or social views). Collingwood were mainly working class Irish Catholics. Then the loathing becomes intergenerational as time passes and the original reasons are left behind but the rivalry remains.

Nice to know a little of Collingwood's history. But winning the GF should quiet a lot of haters!
