Stay one night near airport or near cruise port? MCO

Canadian - First time cruising out of Port Canaveral. Flying in the day before. Out the same day. Trying for a flight at 100pm or later.  The port is further away from the airport than I expected. With our dollar, the hotel costs are a little pricy these days. I like to stay at Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn type places. Do you think it would be more cost effective to stay at a hotel near the airport and get a shuttle or Uber the day of to the Port (not in a rush, probably can’t board til noonish anyway), or should we try and stay at a hotel closer to the Port? Thanks for your thoughts!

As Bruce said, cost and quality of hotels is a factor.  Things you may want to do the day before is a factor.  Traffic on 528 (on embarkation day) is not really a factor.

If you stay near MCO and your group is three or less, stay at a hotel listed on https://www.cortrans-shuttle.com/

It is $30 per person and will save money (and hassle) over a rental car.

2 things to consider: when does your flight arrive and how much do you want to spend?

Hotels near MCO are much cheaper than hotels near PC, probably 50% or less of the cost. You can find any level of hotel and many within walking distance of places to eat and things to do. I would use a service for travel to and from PC. Something like Cruise Control Transportation. He will pick up at your hotel and drop you right off at the ship. The hotel and transportation from MCO is the same as just the hotel at PC in many cases.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency at the Orlando airport. If you go upstairs from baggage claim the hotel lobby is right there. The next day we used Cortrans shuttle to pick us up right there at the hotel to go to the ship. Also used them for the ride back to the airport after the cruise. All went very smoothly.
