I've said it before & will say it again. If a seat is vacant for an hour, we'll move right in & remove the belongings & hand them to pool staff. No one is entitled to leave their stuff & take off for lunch or whatever else for an hour(or frequently more) and expect to plop right back down. Had VERY few issues. I just tell them you can't hog the seats & then tell them to get lost or I'll get security. Sounds nasty, but stand your ground or be trod upon. It's your choice. My spouse is the one on the right in our Icon. He handles it & I enjoy the show.

That sound reasonable, although having done that on a cruise one time the individual, who was in the gym, called security who deescalated the situation and told me that it was always wiser to have the pool attendants remove the articles.

Who has time to sit around on a vacation and time how long people are using a pool lounge chair and then create an unnecessary conflict.  You always see the best and worst of humanity on a cruise ship.

You only do what's necessary. For me, it's usually seeing an unoccupied chair with items on them in the shade. I find a near by seat or roam around waiting for their return while timing them to return.  Unless their partner was monitoring their chair there's no reason it should go unused for 45 minutes.

Agree.  Let the staff take care of it.  It is their job.

Any guys want to take the matter into their own hands by force taking chairs with hoggers present or hoggers absence is up to them.   It is not our way.

Can't wait to sail on the new Sun with "our own" Signature pool!

For the first time, I think ever on a cruise ship, two guests asked a pool attendant on the Sky Princess to remove some items that had been on lounge chairs for well over an hour. He obliged.

We had the 'one dedicated chair hog' who came out each morning with his headphones on, pulled together a circle of about 7 or 8 chairs and then just sat there for hours watching the empty chairs. That is a very sad life indeed.

You know how there are people in every neighborhood who sit and watch what happens in the neighborhood just so they can create tension between neighbors.  It's like that to me.

We were on a Carnival ship one time, where we were up at 6:30am to have a morning smoke and coffee. That's about the time crew starts setting up deck loungers. On this particular ship, there are loungers in the smoking area, and as soon as the chairs were put out, a ady walked up and put her room towel, beach bag, book and all her stuff on a chair and left. Fast forward to 10am after the casino was brutal, we went back up to the smoking area to hang for a wall and her stuff was still there, untouched. The skies started darkening and we had one of those famous Caribbean squalls and her stuff got drenched. All of a sudden she comes running out to get here stuff and started screaming at the group of us that were laughing at her, as to why were not considerate enough to get her stuff out of the rain and how her stuff was ruined, which got us laughing even harder. She did not get the concept of how moronic her comments were. Fond memories.
