Our last few times eating at the Crown Grill on several different Princess ships has been nothing short of underwhelming.

On one of our Alaskan cruises we saw overalls worn on a Formal night with no hassels at all.

They will be just fine! Princess is changing with the times and for the better.

Thoughts on the NEW Dining Options starting Sept 14, 2024
Princessfan20 replied to mikjr's topic in Princess Cruises
This was our experience too at the last two weattende. Maybe we got bad tables but there was a couple each time that just went on and on about what Princess does or is doing wrong and nothing positive. Felt sorry for the officers both times. -
One theory as for the increase in peanut allergies is: In the late 1990s and early 2000s, doctors changed their approach regarding food allergies. They mistakenly thought that delaying the feeding of peanut for several years was the best approach to preventing peanut allergies. In fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics issued a (now-outdated) recommendation in 2000, which directed parents to avoid feeding baby peanuts until they reached the age of three, especially if a baby was at high risk for a peanut allergy. Today, doctors know that this approach to delay peanut introduction actually increases food allergy risk, and that delayed introduction was a major factor that led to the sharp increase in peanut allergies. Thanks to landmark clinical studies, doctors now know that the opposite approach, feeding baby peanut early and often, before they turn one is the best way to prevent peanut allergies.

Formal nights on British Isles cruise
Princessfan20 replied to sandancer's topic in Princess Cruises
More like over a 1,000 times....and still there is no clear answer. -
Exactly. Princess needs to take in consideration the 70% of the world population that do not use toilet paper and offer bathrooms with built in bidets too.

Sold Out Princess Cruises the New Norm?
Princessfan20 replied to startedwithamouse's topic in Princess Cruises
I was wondering how much is pent up travel demands and how much is due to Princess's new cabin management program where they have a bidding system and are maybe holding cabins back so they do not have to reduce their price. . It seems to me there are other things going because cruises that use to be hard to hard to fill seem to be full very soon after they go on sale. -
Same here. We were like....what is all the fuss about....deal with it.

Ruby Princess-- awful guest relations crew. Help!
Princessfan20 replied to nwualum's topic in Princess Cruises
We had a similar problem once and went through to the chain of command because there was a banging noise in our room and it could not be located when the ship was moving. To our embarrassment, we had discovered that someone had left a bottle of wine in a little cabinet in the suite prior to us and when the shipped moved it rolled a little and made the unusual noise hitting the wall inside. Everyone who checked our room only did it when the ship was docked so there was no noise and it was funny in the end when it was finally figured out. However, up until that time it was annoying to say the least. -
This is true and all good gamblers know this aspect of the game. The fact is that the effect of other players at the table is random, as likely to help as hurt, whether the players are good or bad. The only sense in which other players at the table affect a good player is they make the count fluctuate faster. Others’ play at times can be frustrating, but the math proves that in the long run, the decisions of other players at the table has no effect on the expected result for a basic strategy player. You lose when you lose and win when you win and it is basically a lot of luck and no one else's fault.

Is there a charge for this now, calling room service, if you are on Standard fare and not a package?

Great idea. We use to always buy the Princess bouquet on board for $39.00 but we see it is now selling for $99.00 under the new regime.

Sun Princess Cabana Disappointment .................
Princessfan20 replied to deultgen's topic in Princess Cruises
Still waiting for someone who is on the Sun NOW to confirm "how awful the Cabana Minis are" like many have been suggesting here. I find it surprising that there almost no post of current passengers on the Sun, in a Cabana Mini, who have complained yet, expect for some on these boards who are going off a partial picture of the cabin or cabins from another cruise company's ships? -
Sun Princess Cabana Disappointment .................
Princessfan20 replied to deultgen's topic in Princess Cruises
You can if you have a selfie stick! -
It is funny how these are the Premium Priced mini-suits on the Sun but you have already deemed them a disaster. The pictures that were posted of other ships "supposedly" Cabana minis were on a promenade deck and Princess has restricted who can enter the Cabana area on the Sun, which is not open to most passengers. I think the cabins have a lot to offer plus the Reserve Dining is important to lots of passengers. What you seem to imply is going to happen probably won't in reality. I have not really heard any passengers on the Sun who are in these Cabana Cabins post about how horrible they are. It seems there are other areas and issues with the ship that are much more unsettling to most passengers on the ship right now.

I doubt anyone will know. We were on a three week Enchanted Princess Mediterranean cruise last summer that evidently was broken into three different cruises and we were invited to two MTG luncheons and one MTG evening cocktail party. We much preferred the cocktail party because there were only 40 guests and you really got to mingle with the officers and vice versa. Also, there were violin players at the MTG cocktail event. At the MTG luncheons you were sat a table with an officer and about 8 to 9 guests who seemed to have a contest one-upping each other with cruise stories. Also, photograph provided with the Captain each time was nice touch. We have over 400 days.

Princess - PLEASE help, outsourced customer service is absurd
Princessfan20 replied to cusematt4's topic in Princess Cruises
What some people seem to be saying is that there has been a noticeable change for the worse in Princess' customer service in the last couple of years. Not all call centers are created equal and theirs is definitely the worst offshore call center I have ever had to deal with. Playing CVP roulette is not all it is made out to be either at Princess. It is a definite deterioration of their product compared to other travel companies we use these days. -
Getting hurt or sick on a cruise ship is not a pleasant experience. Our family had a similar experience when contacting Covid on a Princess ship plus luggage was lost also. Also, a family member injured themselves on a Princess ship off of South America and it was a 4 day ordeal getting back home for appropriate treatment. Even with Princess insurance you really have to advocate for yourself and expect that they want you out of their hair ASAP.

First of all I have yet to see "any press" about this cancellation appear in any major US news organization releases unless you consider CC equivalent to The NY Times or LA Times? People can point fingers all they want but the ship is not going to sail until the ship is ready to sail. Unexpected events happen all the time when traveling and people need to learn to rally quickly to keep moving forward and make the most of any experience.
-
It is surprising that as one "how should I dress" thread dies a natural death another one pops up on CC. Are people really that insecure that they do not know how to dress on a cruse or what to wear to dinner? Really? Wow! In reality it is just a ship full of regular people, on vacation having a good time with a myriad of activities, with dinner being just one activity. Most people do not care the least what others are wearing or do they even notice. I think people should adhere to the nos. No tank tops, swim suits etc. Other than that, I feel everyone is entitled to their own definition of formal and casual. If someone's definition is way off then it is up to the cruise line to deal with if they want to or not. More than likely --- not.
-
This topic just becomes more ridiculous each time it is brought up about every 10 days. Are people so insecure they cannot figure out how to dress on a cruise ship? Wear what you enjoy and think is suitable for the occasion/experience and go to the MDR on formal night. Be comfortable and look what YOU consider your best. We have seen very few passengers ever turned away from the MDR's. It is a rarity! Just enjoy your cruise and do not worry about what others are wearing. Nobody will care in the end. Princess definitely will not care for sure.
