  1. This is true and all good gamblers know this aspect of the game. The fact is that the effect of other players at the table is random, as likely to help as hurt, whether the players are good or bad. The only sense in which other players at the table affect a good player is they make the count fluctuate faster. Others’ play at times can be frustrating, but the math proves that in the long run, the decisions of other players at the table has no effect on the expected result for a basic strategy player. You lose when you lose and win when you win and it is basically a lot of luck and no one else's fault.
  2. Is there a charge for this now, calling room service, if you are on Standard fare and not a package?
  3. Great idea. We use to always buy the Princess bouquet on board for $39.00 but we see it is now selling for $99.00 under the new regime.
  4. We have always booked Reserve Class on all our cruises and found it to be well worth it. We have noticed on some ships it looks like ATD is a real hassle for many passengers.
  5. Still waiting for someone who is on the Sun NOW to confirm "how awful the Cabana Minis are" like many have been suggesting here. I find it surprising that there almost no post of current passengers on the Sun, in a Cabana Mini, who have complained yet, expect for some on these boards who are going off a partial picture of the cabin or cabins from another cruise company's ships?
  6. It is funny how these are the Premium Priced mini-suits on the Sun but you have already deemed them a disaster. The pictures that were posted of other ships "supposedly" Cabana minis were on a promenade deck and Princess has restricted who can enter the Cabana area on the Sun, which is not open to most passengers. I think the cabins have a lot to offer plus the Reserve Dining is important to lots of passengers. What you seem to imply is going to happen probably won't in reality. I have not really heard any passengers on the Sun who are in these Cabana Cabins post about how horrible they are. It seems there are other areas and issues with the ship that are much more unsettling to most passengers on the ship right now.
  7. I doubt anyone will know. We were on a three week Enchanted Princess Mediterranean cruise last summer that evidently was broken into three different cruises and we were invited to two MTG luncheons and one MTG evening cocktail party. We much preferred the cocktail party because there were only 40 guests and you really got to mingle with the officers and vice versa. Also, there were violin players at the MTG cocktail event. At the MTG luncheons you were sat a table with an officer and about 8 to 9 guests who seemed to have a contest one-upping each other with cruise stories. Also, photograph provided with the Captain each time was nice touch. We have over 400 days.
  8. What some people seem to be saying is that there has been a noticeable change for the worse in Princess' customer service in the last couple of years. Not all call centers are created equal and theirs is definitely the worst offshore call center I have ever had to deal with. Playing CVP roulette is not all it is made out to be either at Princess. It is a definite deterioration of their product compared to other travel companies we use these days.
  9. Getting hurt or sick on a cruise ship is not a pleasant experience. Our family had a similar experience when contacting Covid on a Princess ship plus luggage was lost also. Also, a family member injured themselves on a Princess ship off of South America and it was a 4 day ordeal getting back home for appropriate treatment. Even with Princess insurance you really have to advocate for yourself and expect that they want you out of their hair ASAP.
  10. First of all I have yet to see "any press" about this cancellation appear in any major US news organization releases unless you consider CC equivalent to The NY Times or LA Times? People can point fingers all they want but the ship is not going to sail until the ship is ready to sail. Unexpected events happen all the time when traveling and people need to learn to rally quickly to keep moving forward and make the most of any experience.
  11. It is surprising that as one "how should I dress" thread dies a natural death another one pops up on CC. Are people really that insecure that they do not know how to dress on a cruse or what to wear to dinner? Really? Wow! In reality it is just a ship full of regular people, on vacation having a good time with a myriad of activities, with dinner being just one activity. Most people do not care the least what others are wearing or do they even notice. I think people should adhere to the nos. No tank tops, swim suits etc. Other than that, I feel everyone is entitled to their own definition of formal and casual. If someone's definition is way off then it is up to the cruise line to deal with if they want to or not. More than likely --- not.
  12. This topic just becomes more ridiculous each time it is brought up about every 10 days. Are people so insecure they cannot figure out how to dress on a cruise ship? Wear what you enjoy and think is suitable for the occasion/experience and go to the MDR on formal night. Be comfortable and look what YOU consider your best. We have seen very few passengers ever turned away from the MDR's. It is a rarity! Just enjoy your cruise and do not worry about what others are wearing. Nobody will care in the end. Princess definitely will not care for sure.
  13. Have you called Princess recently? Most of the reps at the Philippine call center are clueless, useless and powerless to do anything even though they represent Princess.
  14. Not sure what all the excitement is about being on a Princess Inaugural Cruise. We have been on two, Regal and Majestic, and as far as we could tell it was absolutely a non-event. Nothing special really happened, we were not given any special souvenirs and it seems just like a regular sailing. Sorry about the short notice cancellation though because that does create major headaches for many passengers. Princess should have been more transparent but that seems to be lacking these days with them.
  15. I really think too much is being read into this and some people are hoping that the MDR's equate to what you wear which is really hard to believe because Princess has been going in the opposite direction of formal wear in recent years.
  16. I am sure this has to do with food and not dress. I cannot imagine the lines, arguments, and confusion Princess would create if they started sorting people out by what they were wearing as to where they eat. As we know dress style is even more subjective than food.
  17. Hope the meals do not disappoint. We find Dress to Impress night meals are pretty average and often not that upscale.

  19. You will probably get attacked because the Princess apologists never see anything even remotely wrong with the way Princess does business nowadays. It has been our experience in the last year that Princess has been on a downward spiral in many areas. The first that comes to mind is that horrible call center they use in the Philippines. Also, Elite perks have been cut, menus have been cut, level of quality entertainers has been cut and the list goes on and on from the quality experience Princess use to always provide.
  20. I think they were referring to your quote "To all those that are negative about Princess changing its loyalty program........stay tuned for a major announcement to be made within the month! I understand it will be exciting" as being nothing more then a rumor and they used the dress code as an analogy to get support their point of view. Happy New Year!
  21. Agree whole heartedly. I have learned the hard way that every time I get an agent from that call center I immediately hang up because it is just not worth the time, effort and grief you have to go through to work with those inept agents. Better to just hang up and call back again and hope for more competent agents. Unbelievable Princess is still using them.
  22. We are both military and on our upcoming cruise we got our Military benefits and the Stockholder OBC. I thought Princess went back to allowing this after they got pushback for trying to deny the Shareholder OBC to deserving veterans.
  23. I agree. There is an awful lot of lip syncing and auto - tune used in those shows. We always come away feeling (when we do sit through one) that they are just a cut above a high school musical.
  24. Those pictures are totally misleading and means nothing. It is a formal night and that is a group of passengers that got dressed up to have their pictures taken with an officer at the Champagne Waterfall. It is hardly representative of the full ship and as many of us know very few people really go to the Champagne Waterfall when they have them.
