Halibut fishing tour - Ketchikan

All the charters fish roughly the same areas.  I've been a few times and always caught fish.  The halibut around Ketchikan are mostly on the small side (15-20 lbs) and you are allowed to keep one.  Check if your ship has an option to cook it for you on board or you can have it shipped home.

I also enjoyed the fishing and wilderness dining excursion where you fish for a while and then stop at an island where they cook up the fish and serve it with sides and trimmings.

My husband did the Fishing and Wilderness Dining excursion three or four times.  If I recall, I think he mentioned that he was able to hold the rod whereas some fishing trips the guys had to take turns.
Here’s a picture from one of those trips in 2010.
