CruzinFeraBruzin Posted April 14, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2023 We are considering a cruise aboard the Cloud and have our option of a DV suite on deck 5 or deck 6. In very rough seas, do the veranda suites on deck 5 sustain flooding with water coming in thru the sliding veranda door from high waves? If so, is deck 6 a better option? MrsWaldo Posted April 14, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2023 We had Deck 5 (539) for a North Atlantic. Our sea day was 13-15 foot waves. No issue with leakage into the suite at all. The waves were crashing onto the windows at points through the day. I thought it was a perfect location and booked my second Cloud cruise in the same room… and the one opposite as there were 3 of us.

We were leaning toward deck 5, as deck 6 is completely full except for the two suites adjacent to the Future Cruise Desk area.

Thats one of the reasons I have avoid Deck 6... for some reason the mid ship seems to get more foot traffic.
alithecat Posted April 15, 2023 #5 Share Posted April 15, 2023 We were mid-ship on deck 5 in Antarctica. No issues at all with waves. We were above them. And less motion than if we would have been on deck 6. I would absolutely book that same deck 5 location again.
Rare WesW Posted April 19, 2023 #6 Share Posted April 19, 2023 (edited) Have had DV on both Deck 5 (540) and deck 6 (640). Arrived back Saturday from 39 days on board the Cloud in 640 and 641. Much prefer deck 6 (about 15 steps to recepton and the Expedtion Desk, about 50 steps to the Explorer Lounge and Expedtion bulletin board (important to read to enhance your knowledge of upcoming ports, find out your Zodiac Group, and upcoming Expedition Excursion information). And in rough seas (our Cape to Cape crossing in March to early April had multiple days of heavy swell) felt little motion in 640 or in 641 ( during Capetown to the Seychelles (Mahe)) And since we love using the fitness facility--it's about 45 steps away from your suite. We had no problem with Deck 6 fellow guest traffic heading to see the Future Cruise Consultan (FCC, Reception, Expedition Desk, et.al). You can't go wrong with either Deck 5 or Deck 6 (DV), but for us the convenient location for Deck 6 DV's; make suites 638/640/641 or 643 our first DV choice. The risk of booking deck 6 DV's tho is proximity to the FCC--ended up booking three future Silversea cruises since Joshua (FCC) and I spoke often (when entering and leaving our suite) about (Kimberley region, et.al) Edited April 19, 2023 by WesW

You don't want to have to walk too far to the exercise facility. 😎 1 1

We ended up booking 539 (MrsWaldo's favorite suite). We considered doing your Cape Town - Mahe cruise this year but then signed up for the 2024 Grand Africa/Arabia. Then they rolled out the 2024 Grand Indian voyage earlier this month and the expedition experience tempted us once again so we decided to switch. It will take us to some of the same ports y'all visited this year with a few new ones in the mix. It's a great itinerary. We usually prefer deck 6 when sailing, but figured it may be a little calmer on deck 5.
