In honour of the 150 th anniversary of Holland America I thought it might be fun to share some photos and memories of our cruises.

One of our favourite cruises ever,  the Westerdam awaiting us in Yokohama before circumnavigating Japan, and the view of Mr. Fuji from our cabin.

Happy Birthday!  Our first cruise was to Alaska in 2019 on the Westerdam.   It was wonderful!  Glacier Bay and Denali were the highlights of that trip for me.  I'd love to go back, because I'm sure you could never see everything in a lifetime!  20230209_134639.thumb.jpg.e7531bc782d3ec4766be10adbf007003.jpgP1060197.thumb.JPG.79e43304bfc6276e3e55475fc9886348.JPGP1060287.thumb.JPG.9616179fac1e58c944446e0cc1c0d202.JPG

So many wonderful memories...

But one very special time was our cruise from San Diego to Auckland, NZ onboard the Noordam.  I can picture in my mind's eye looking at the sea when we were in "The Doldrums," with the ocean as smooth as glass.  Growing up on the West Coast of California, I was accustomed to very different seas than we encountered in the Southern Hemisphere.  Also, on that cruise we had the excellent astronomy lecturer Allen Wright, and a fabulous historian -- Tom, I believe.  It was a perfect cruise.

First HAL cruise was Alaska.  Loved the the Veendam. Didn’t think we could top that until we sailed through the Panama Canal in February 2022 on the Zuiderdam with only only 1000 other passengers. Everyone, passengers and crew, were so happy to be cruising again.

One of our most memorable cruises was with the Eurodam in 2019 round trip San Diego to Hawaii and Polynesian Islands. A precruise dinner and various Happy hours, dinners and excursions sealed the deal and we made friends for life. The fotos were taken on an excursion to Fakarava with snorkeling and a BBQ, a day in paradise. We scrubbed up pretty well for the last one.
