flukemaster Posted July 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2023 We will be over there in October. So far we have seen or we will be visiting: Coliseum, Vatican, Spanish steps, pantheon, Trevi fountain, Amalfi Coast, Florance, Senia, Orvieto, Venice, lake Bracciano and Castle. We have an extra day, so we can go where we want. More than likely going to hire a driver/guide. What have people done if they have seen alot ( a relative term, I know) before and want to see something else while staying in Rome?
euro cruiser Posted July 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2023 Are you avoiding Rome entirely? I ask because I've been there more than a dozen times, usually for a week at a time, and I haven't seen everything yet. What kinds of things do you enjoy doing/seeing?

Rare cruisemom42 Posted July 16, 2023 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2023 Confused -- are you staying in Rome for a couple of days pre- or post-cruise? Or are you looking for things to do departing from Civitavecchia (with an overnight, apparently)?

Rare cruisemom42 Posted July 17, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2023 What about Tivoli? In Rome -- Capitoline Museum, Borghese Gallery, Baths of Caracalla, Museum of the Imperial Forums, Scavi Tour (Vatican), Castel Sant'Angelo. Just off the top of my head. Ostia as suggested above is another good idea.
euro cruiser Posted July 17, 2023 #8 Share Posted July 17, 2023 In a little over an hour, by high speed train, you can get to Caserta to visit the royal palace and gardens. (Both Trenitalia and Italotreno offer high speed service on this route.)
