Princess booking early on or closer to sailing time

I would be booking early when we have decided on a major trip.  I wouldn't book real late because we need to fly to a ship and the flight costs could blast away any last minute savings.  I could see us doing a late booking when we are in FL and decide to jump on a ship that is only a reasonable drive away.

We tend to book as soon as we have decided on a cruise. In a few instances the price has gone down and we've refared. (Recently did this for a B2B2B. Segment 1 went up in price but segments 2 and 3 went down. Rebooked with new promo and used FCD we didn't have when originally booking. Saved $1,200 and got an extra $650 OBC.) Normally we see fares go up rather than down. Will continue booking well in advance despite the recent changes that cancelled some of the perks we originally had when we booked.
