Our favorite ships are the Encore and the Bliss. Thinking about booking the Epic for next year. Trying to decide between the Epic and the Jewel. Any suggestions?

I suggest that you read as many reviews of each ship (especially with photos), so you can get a "feel" for each. The Jewel is 5 years older than Epic, is smaller, and, lacks many of the "fun things" that are on Bliss and Encore.

Have been on both and my husband and I prefer the Jewel.   We do not need the fun things like the race track.

Loved that the games did not take place in the atrium freeing up that space as it is always crowded on the larger ships.

Loved the three elevator banks instead of the two which made all the elevators not crowded.

Loved that you did not have to make any show reservations--you just showed up.

Loved that even sailing on a smaller ship that was full, it never seemed crowded in any area.

Now, if it had a Vibe, it definitely would be my favorite ship.

I love The Jewel even as a solo passenger.  I have no need for Vibe-- not a sun worshiper--- late husband had skin cancer a number of times.

I guess what we enjoyed most about the Bliss and the Encore was the entertanment, speciality dining, the boardwalk and the lounges. Worried that we might not have enough to do in the evening on the Jewel. Pretty much the same itinerary.

I don’t think Jewel or Epic have any stellar productions like SIX, Jersey Boys or Choir of Men.  A lot of the entertainment on Epic is found in small venues…the Cavern Club and where Howl at the Moon is.  The Beatles will do at least one show in Epic main theater, and I think they have an Elton John tribute. Jewel has smaller productions that look to be very entertaining.  We’ve sailed Epic and Jade (similar to Jewel) and found both ships to be fun, entertaining and good food.

Specialty dining is similar on both.  IMO Jewel wins on balcony cabins…the layout is more traditional. Don’t know about Haven on the Jewel, but have read that Epic has the best Haven spaces.

Epic has fun water slides, lots of pools and hot tubs…but also more passengers.  Also, IMO, Epic has a really nice casino…lots of slots and tables.
