Port Canaveral Terminal 1 parking?

Recommended Posts

I posted this in the port threads on Friday and got no response.  Was hoping someone here could answer.

We just got off of Independence this morning.  We noticed as we were leaving the parking deck, all the booths/kiosks/ticket machines have been removed.  Does anyone know what they are doing?  Gotta wonder how crazy it’s going to be for those arriving this morning for their cruise.

thanx

Erika

THey are replacing  a lot of the old equipment and opening two new surface lots next to garage. This was in the port news letter i got a week ago.

Parking Lot Expansion Project 🚧

Preparations are in full swing to accommodate the upcoming arrival of Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas to Port Canaveral’s Cruise Terminal 1 (CT1). On October 25, the Oasis-class size ship will make history as the first in its class to sail 3- and 4-day itineraries.

To accommodate the expected higher passenger counts, efforts are well underway to construct expanded parking facilities adjacent to CT1. Phase one of this project will provide an additional 870 parking spaces with plans to add another 400 parking spots in subsequent phases of the project. The new surface parking areas will have a pay-on-entry system that aligns with the current pay-on-entry system at the CT1 parking garage. This upgrade will expedite the parking process and ensure convenience for all passengers sailing from CT1.

Contractors for the project, Ivey's Construction and Canaveral Construction Company, began work in June and are on track for substantial completion just in time for Allure of the Sea's anticipated arrival. This $8 million capital improvement project is an investment in the Port’s commitment to ensuring a quality guest experience for cruise passengers.

Except that the 10/25 cruise (which we're both on so you already know) is a 5-nighter to get Allure on schedule.

The improvements will put an end to the B2B "discount" that existed in T-1. In the past you paid when you entered the facility and just drove out at the end of your cruise.  (regardless of if you were on a B2B2b, etc.)

That will not be the case with the new equipment, you will get a ticket on entry and pay on exit...

Apparently not true BP, based on the letter from the port authority that villager70 received last week, and what we have experienced in the other garages which are all being converted to pay on entry.

We will find out soon enough I guess, when we pulled out of there on Friday the equipment had already been pulled out and the nice gentlemen directing traffic was answering a few questions while we waited to turn out of garage...

When we arrived Monday for Independence we were directed up the parking ramp where people were stationed at each lane with handheld cc payment devices. We were given an 'Independence' receipt to put on the dashboard along with a regular cc receipt.

I'm wanting to use the facility next January for an Allure cruise, but we are driving from Orlando the day of the cruise.

Bit concerned that we arrive to a "parking lot full" sign and nowhere else to park, given we can't pre Book, and this news makes that fear even worse.

Looks like a 5am start to get to the head of the parking line 😁

You shouldn't have any problem. Everyone who parked there and will be getting off Allure will be opening up spots for you.

We always park in the garage and whether it was on the Oasis class ship on Sunday or the ship doing the 3/4's on a Monday or Friday there have always been plenty of spots if you get there on the early side (9:30-10:00). Allure requires more parking than Indy but the extra spots should take care of that. Worst case will likely be that you have to park in a surface lot and not the garage.
