Cruising with a birth certificate question

If you are married and have a different name (married) then what is on your birth certificate, how does that work?

Typically, as far as the cruise line is concerned, if the first name and DOB match between DL and BC, then you are okay.  CBP does recommend that "bridging documents" (marriage license, divorce decree, name change order) be brought, as without them, there might be a need for secondary screening, with possible delays in disembarking.

Bring your marriage certificate if your maiden name matches the birth certificate. That along with your DL should satisfy everything.

Thank you! I’m pretty sure the marriage license is LONG gone but we do have that divorce decree. 🤣

You did not mention when your departure is, but you could bite the bullet and gat a passport.

If you have the time get a passport, as some travels require it and it makes international travel much more efficient.

Keep in mind that this is valid for US citizens on cruises to & from the US.
