Ditto. When I was in my 30's or 40's I'd just roll with it for the price. Now that I'm 60, I'll choose my own destiny, thank you.

I'm in my late 70s.  In my 30's & 40s, I travelled extensively on business and with the National Guard, always in the cheap seats.   Now, I pay to travel well.

But if we stay in a hotel day of debarkation, won’t ncl give us another late flight home?

Not necessarily! This wasn't a deviation - it was day of embarkation. Same cruise. Same home airport. Same everything, except reservation. We flew out at noon. Three other couples flew out at 8 PM. Who knows...but hey, it's what you get when selecting NCL.

I'm proud of you for taking a long term perspective.

But your perspective isn't mine.

A wise friend once noted that you spend most of your life acquiring capital.

The trick is to understand there comes a point where the objective is to spend that capital.

I't simply not worth it to me to fly economy on a red eye.

True, but if I pick my flights, I get to choose.

If NCL gets to choose, it's going to be their preferences, not mine. Does anyone know if NCL will book you a very late flight, because it is only 2 1/2hrs. to Cleveland.

I am looking at a Panama Cruise, from LA to Miami. Does anyone know if NCL would book a very late flight home. I am flying into Cleveland which only takes 2 1/2 hrs.

I agree with you, but a lot of it depends on where you are in life.  After a lifetime of hard work and penny pinching, we’re at the point in life we can afford to not take those cheap red eyes.  At this point in life we’re spending our kid’s’ inheritance.  😂. But even five years ago when the kids were still in college, we would have done it.  Not now.
