Greg - I was just looking at the app getting ready for next week.  I noticed that there is a button that can hide your location.  I may need to use that on my cruise.🤣

yeah from other guests. I don’t know other guests but I do have that turned on.

Let’s look at a couple reasons I wanted to book Royal Princess in Alaska. I think it worked out better because this probably wouldn’t have been a huge factor with the poor weather we had.

Sea Walk takes you 28 feet away from the ship.

That means be careful on your balcony selection

No reason to wait by the phone.  Chef’s Table invitees are notified in writing.  A letter is delivered to the cabin.

Not waiting by the phone it rang when I stopped by my cabin and the number said dining so I was hoping that was it.

For real. I don't like that.

I have mixed feelings about it, but it does work in your favor.  Last June, a casino manager tracked me down at one of the lounge shows to let me know they underpaid me earlier in the evening on a complicated straight flush payout at the tables.  I didn't notice it at the time, neither did the staff at the moment.  I guess they could've called the room, but having the personal touch was pretty cool.

Pina colada straw almost made it but not quite. I do like the biodegradable straws on NCL the best. I have my plastic straws in the room but if I can save them for my four carnival cruises next year, I will.

How are the tropical, fruit-based drinks?  Another current thread on the Princess boards is that they are not so good, that the ingredients used are fresh and/or natural enough.  What do you think?

Pina colada was fine. Same as on carnival but ship Pina coladas are far from my favorite.

I understand. Still a deal breaker for us. I'm glad you pointed this out. I thought Carnival was the only ones that did this.

Carnival as well as Princess and Holland American, which are also part of the Carnival Corporation.  Don't know whether the European based Carnival Corporation lines such as Costa, Aida or P&O have the same restrictions.

If you need 16+ per day to enjoy your cruise, RCI, MSC, NCL and X are all at your disposal.

Well, yeah, on what's covered under your Plus package....but you can, of course, keep going paying rack rate! 😋

No, unless you somehow circumvented the rules.  We spent 14 days on the Discovery in 2022 and 14 on the Majestic in 2023 and the max was always 15 alcoholic drinks per day per person.  The only way around it was if you knew someone that didn't hit 15 per day that you could sponge off of.  But if you need more than 15 per day.....

When they do giveaways here they tell everyone to hold their medallions up. But you don’t really have to do that. They know who is in this room without holding them up.

The grand prize was a bump up to elite status for this cruise. I didn’t win.

I was on the Regal in March 2022, with early post-Covid 35-40% occupancy.  My SO and his sister (in another cabin) were newbies, so we went to that event. There were six prizes and seven cabins in attendance, so they came up with a bottle of champagne for the unlucky seventh cabin. My SO won a $150 photo package and his sister won a specialty dinner.

Im not aware of the 2 at a time thing on Princes...test it out?

The guy is mistaken, he thinks you can consume 15 on the plus package and then buy 16+ on your own.  He must be confused from all of the 16+ he consumed on non Carnival owned cruise lines.

You can indeed order 2 at a time.  Just look at Greg's photos.

As for the high horse, if someone wants more than 15 per day, then, yes, technically they can pay for 16+ out of pocket per Princess' own rules:

"Alcoholic drinks are limited to 15 beverages per 24-hour period (6 a.m. to 6 a.m.). Alcoholic drinks requested above the daily limits are at the discretion of the shipboard management and crew and charged at regular menu prices."

I'm not advocating for drunken idiots, but I can reasonably see where someone may get close to 15 or exceed it if they, say, only drink a portion of it and/or spread it over a long day.  Not every day on a cruise, but for maybe one day, who knows?  Yeah, people can do it...more than you think...and they can hold their alcohol.

So far I’m a big fan of the embarkation lunch. If I could I would like to eat every meal MDR or specialty so having the MDR open on embarkation day is nice here. Thank you to whoever it was that mentioned that. I wouldn’t have known otherwise and keep those tips coming.

You're welcome Greg.  Just paying it forward.
