Live and Solo: B2B on Oasis Feb 4 - 18, a Running report

Just finished a ghost tour. I enjoy doing these as they are fun, cheap, and usually have interesting participants!  Tonight we got the haunted history of Versace’s mansion, the tides, the elementary school, a bar, and some other stops.

Following! Never sailed out of Miami but I've always wanted to see South Beach, great pics! Did a pub ghost tour in Nashville last September and it was spooky and awesome - if I ever get to SB I'll have to check that out, fun way to learn some history 👻 I'm also a runner so I'll be following and cheering you on. Just a remember, even a "bad" run is still lapping people on the couch 😉

South Beach is a lot of fun, would recommend keeping it on your list. Realized this morning that people seem to get in shape before running at south beach vs getting in shape there…Gorgeous run, though.

Windy and overcast this morning, also some water on the ground. Didn’t stop my run and thought it went pretty well!  Another week here and I’d be crushing it!  lol. Saw the Oasis waiting for me.

Earlier this week got a notice that boarding would be delayed because of a coast guard inspection, then got a reminder this morning. Therefore tried to get a late check out - quick ‘no’ on that, a bunch of folks are here, just off their ships, waiting for a room. So I’m sitting in the lobby chatting with a young lady who is going on a music/ band chartered cruise on Carnival. Meanwhile, it’s started raining.

When I was ready, took forever (over 30 min) to get a ride share!  On my way now that’s to my friendly driver ‘Pastor’.

Traffic was insane, very glad I wasn’t driving!  No issues getting on board and when checking it at emergency station, they announced that rooms were ready. Dropped off backpack in room and now at CK for lunch. Just wanted a snack but that area was being cleaned up, so a table it is!

 Cabin photos, very pleased this ship has a plug in by the coffee maker…. No problem bringing in two bottles even though solo. The st Michelle is from crown and anchor.

For lunch: Caesar’s salad and chicken. The salad looked and tasted great, but a little messy! The chicken was good. Kim Crawford Sauvignon blanc, been reading about that on the world cruise so excited that have it on Oasis!

Stressing a little bit because my bag has not shown up….i guess it’s still early. Good snacks in lounge, pleasently surprised by the pig in a blanket in with cranberry sauce, excellent!

Our last few cruises we have sailed in a suite as well, and bags haven't shown up until 5pm or 6pm, try not to stress!

Got my bag!  Now unpacked and waiting for dinner. Hadn’t thought about it before: being unpacked and organized for the cruise is a trigger for me to really start relaxing!  
 

here is my closet, anyone else hear their kid in you mind saying , ‘over pack much’?

I was on the Oasis last August  and all the  luggage on our side of our deck came very,  very  late- I never thought of using an AirTag but will from now on.

 

If you go to the Beach Club, enjoy.  We did it in August and then in November.   It is expensive but worth it.

 Enjoy the  Oasis.

Photos from dinner. Started with the smoked tomato soup. Was trying to avoid creamy soup, but this one didn’t count !  Very, very food!  Next, a small other of the Rigatoni. Again, excellent!  Final the reason to go to coastal kitchen on the first night - the fillet. Frankly, it was meh. I won’t completely blame the dish as I’m finding my tastes changing and am not enjoying steak, in general, as much as I used to. Finally, cheese cake for desert - but I only took a few bites.

After dinner, wandered down to the promenade and watched the band for a while and looked through the shops.  
 

This was just slowing my trip to the casino….Tried out the non-smoking casino for a while and really enjoyed the lack of smoke. But because there were so few games, didn’t stay long. Hit one bonus in the regular casino (didn’t think to take a photo), then lost my investment in a monopoly game. Better luck tomorrow!

Reviewing my plans for tomorrow. When I thought my training would be going better, found a map with a route to paradise beach, which was deemed by other runners to be safe. However, it’s 3.75 miles each way. Even with a few breaks, 7.5 miles could be a killer. Maybe I’ll bring cash and run there, then take a taxi back. Anyone have experience there to share??

 

edited to add an important piece of info: port is Nassau. I’m thinking tomorrow might be a run on the ships promenade deck, with a walk through town.
