Whale Watching & Mendenhall Glacier Photo Safari in Juneau

This excursion is been offered by NCL on our cruise in September 24 - I would like feedback on this excursion from those of you that have taken it?

I enjoyed it.  It’s a good way to go whale watching in a smaller boat and get to the glacier.

I have not done this tour but I can tell you that this tour constantly gets high reviews on this board.

I’ve done this trip more than five times with HAL and Princess, and I’m booked again for May.  Very nice.

I enjoyed it. Small boat for whale watching and short hike at Mendenhall.  We saw a bear at Mendenhall.

I am wondering why the website for this tour sends you back to the cruise line to reserve a spot. It is $64/pp more to go through the cruise line. I'd prefer to use that $128 somewhere else if I can. Has anyone actually booked through the tour company vs. ship excursion?

Looked at the tour through rcl cruise line, an its $$$. Not sure if I would do that. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Sometimes if the tour operators have contracted with the ship to provide the tour, part of that contract is that they cannot book independently and reservations can only be made through the ship. This may be the case for this tour?
