A very short distance from where the ship docks are the canal boats that do the canals tours of the city. There are also HAL ships tours that are offered after the ship docks. Don't know what you're interested in  or how much time you have in Amsterdam.

Our cruise port is in Amsterdam and we are interested in a tour

If you are definitely docking in Amsterdam itself and not one of the other locations,  the docking area is well positioned for easy independent sightseeing of the city and a tour isn't essential, and even if you are wanting to tour outside the city, public transport is generally excellent. And coaches are not always able to enter some of the central area which is better explored on foot.

Or, take a canal cruise tour.

Take a Canal cruise, or visit the Big Museums around Museum Square. The Rijksmuseum for the Nightwatch or The Van Gogh Museum. Next to the Gogh is the City Museum for modern art. Anne Frank house is also an option. All the musea are easily reached by public transport. Reservations for the Musea are recommended especially the Anne Frank house.

We booked with Private Day Tours Amsterdam (Steve).  He was AMAZING.  If you can only do one thing, I would suggest Giethoorn.  It's surreal.

Here's my live thread where I detailed everything we did (including tour providers, hotels, transfers, etc.)

Feel free to ask any questions. Enjoy your time in Amsterdam.
