They can easily convert the  retreat areas on other Royal class ships to encompass more sanctuary space.  Won't surprise me they do that in the future.  Will be the end of my cruising with Princess.

We're all just numbers to the cruise lines and can and will be replaced by others. Do you really think that Princess cares about the 25% of cruisers that don't buy a package?  Money spent on board remains supreme.

Nobody is twisting your arm to sail on the Sun.  You have 15 other ships in the fleet that "has their act together".  Obviously Princess has had growing pains with this new class of ship and the problems should be ironed out when the Star comes out next year.

What’s with the aggressive answer? Chill. I’m just stating my opinion. I love Princess but I’m also not blind to the failures in deployment from changing cabin categories, restaurants not open for months, continued changes they are still making, park 19, delays, etc. I’m sure it’s a great ship and I’ll be on her,in Jan but the truth is the truth.

If you do try, please report back on the volume of disapproving looks you get from the older crowd!

If it's clearly posted 16+ and there are clearly occupants under 16 in the area, I will infer that there will be more than disapproving looks involved as a reaction.

Yes, we have 2 rooms, with one adult and one child in each. Logistically that's the only way that works for us.  So yes, that's our choice.  The point still stands though, they've paid the same, so should be able to go to the same places. Its not like the Sanctuary, where you pay extra to go there.

Yes, it's your choice to bring your children on the cruise.  Just like it's Princess's choice to relegate one of the three or four pools on board to be relegated for 16+.

I'm curious to see if we see anything constructed in that space before it does it's TA cruise to the Caribbean.

We don't sail on the Sun until Thanksgiving so I'd love to see them make use of the space before we're on there with our kids.

We're on for two weeks over Halloween and the first week of November.  I would doubt that anything would be done.  The old stuff would have to be removed before whatever was replacing it could be installed.

Agreed, I highly doubt anything will be done by then but it then begs the question - how long will they be sailing around with a relatively large portion of the ship unusable?

We'll be in the Sanctuary so I'm looking forward to experiencing the Lounge + whatever they end up doing with the Sanctuary restaurant by then.

Fully understand that the truth is the truth.  There are many old time Princess cruisers that are happier than pigs in mud that there have been so many screw ups with the implementation of the Sphere Class.  Many of them will never step foot on a Royal Class ship yet alone one of the two Sphere Class ships.  Princess has certainly made multiple mistakes and hopefully beyond the change in the date of the first sailing the start up with regards to the Star goes much more smoothly than the nonsense with the start up of the Sun.

We sailed on Discovery Princess in April and there was no bar in the casino on that ship at that time.

There was no bar in the casino on the Enchanted in June.

Yes, they got the drinks next door at Take Five. Sadly, they have now trashed Take Five by removing the band area and adding slot machines. It's now a smoke-free slot machine area with the bar. I'm disgusted and disappointed.

Not only was there no bar in the casino on the Enchanted in June but Take Five was closed as well.  And there were only a very few people taking orders.  It was my least favorite casino so far.

Because many have posted that they like the older class ships of Princess and they have never tried the Royal Class, so of course they will never try the Sphere Class.  And if Princess stumbled along the way, it'll put a sly smile on their faces.

Herein lies the rub, for Princess loyalists ( and I consider myself one).

Previously the sanctuary was a much loved and appreciated loyalty perk.  Yes, being elite wouldn't guarantee you a spot, but it helped quite a bit and being able to get a place in the sanctuary definitely inspired me to chase loyalty levels with Princess.

If they take that away, they offer very little loyalty rewards that anyone will chase.

And if they want to compete with Royal, Royal will be a tough one to take on.  Great loyalty perks, I have many friends who are completely "loyal to royal" just to earn another free drink.

This is a real issue to me they are taking away something very attractive that was tied to loyalty and making it just about money.  Will this impact loyalty?

People on their first cruise will no longer be plotting how to obtain  Elite to have a better shot at the sanctuary.

Will they care less about loyalty to Princess?  After all why chase perks when they are easily taken away.

Or can be purchased, no loyalty required

May I ask when the Sanctuary was a loyalty perk? If being elite wouldn't guarantee a spot how was it a loyalty perk?  I'm confused.

They only changed one recently

I went back and read their post, and I think they meant that Elites can get on early and get to the Sanctuary first to reserve a spot.  But we don't get on the ship first anymore.  I think we have to pick a slot like everyone else.  Am I correct?

I'm a little surprised that Princess hasn't offered some small compensation for those people who booked prior to the announcement about Park 19 being scrapped. For some folks with children it might haven been a deciding factor in choosing that ship.

Too costly. Too many people to give compensation to.

Incorrect. There is no picking arrival times or anything like that, hasn't been for a year or so...

How does it work?

Our first Princess cruise (on the Sun) isn't until November.

Thanks for the correction. Last few have been on Celebrity or I went to the Go Lounge.   So Elite's can enter first again?

Platinum, Elite and suite have priority boarding on embarkation day - that does require them to get there before boarding begins to be first aboard (this waiting around on line) . Arrive after boarding begins and it's board in order of arrival...

Thanks.  I think I stopped trying to be the first on the ship anymore 🙂 so just walk in when we get there.

But they had no problem selling the cruise advertising that Park 19 would be open.

I understand what you are saying, but I have not heard of anyone getting any compensation for it not being available. I could see some people complaining, and maybe getting something, but personally I don't have the kind of negative energy to do that.

If they gave everyone $25 credit for it not being available, what would do to the bottom line?  Some people would be happy because they hadn't planned on using it anyway, but then those that were relying on it would want FAR MORE. There is no making anyone happy and I don't see Princess doing anything compensation wise.

IF any are available!  Our last cruise on the Enchanted was a B2B and those who were on the first part (we weren't) had the Sanctuary booked up by the time we got on at about 11:45.....there were 2 afternoon spots available with a less than stellar location but we wanted to try it for the first time so we took those 2 spots.

Then Princess should continue to advertise it as being available & increase sales. 😄
