connoisseur tour guide

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

For Princess land connoisseur tours, there is a tour guide with the group.

In Alaska other than the tundra tour, the days at the lodges are all on our own.  What does the guide on these tours do given just one group tour during the 5 days?  When thinking of a guide on European city tours, the guide provides info about each stop and goes with the group from activity to activity, but since there is just one group activity over 5 days I’m wonder what role the group guide plays.

Thank you.

We did a connoisseur land trip last summer. Pur tour guide narrated during our bus trips from place to place. She made dinner reservations at the lodges which was very beneficial. If you have a problem , room, mobility etc. The tour guide will help make arrangements. The tour guide is more like a travel manager.

Mainly, what Rudy said. Also, there were a couple of special events for people on concierge tours. A happy hour one night and a special dinner another night.  Ours also made the arrangements for us to leave a day early.

We did this tour in September last year.  Our tour guide was horrible.  He made some of the reservations for dinner by the last lodge he said he did his best and if we didn't like the time suggested we call as that was all that was available.  got there and got the day and time we wanted no problem so don't think he worked to hard trying to help his folks.  Kept talking about this was his last trip before heading home, didn't narrate anything...so not all guides are great!

We experienced all the good things others have said on our connoisseur tour two years ago. Like the European guide mentioned, ours did give us lots of information on the upcoming stops to prepare us for the on-your-own but of course didn't accompany us as he couldn't split himself up. Found out later that he spent much of his "away" time ensuring the dinner plans were correct, taking care of guest's anniversaries and birthdays and preparing for the next stop.
