Sounds like maybe you've got one started!

Wish! My designated (don't ask!) DIL and her dad are on this cruise. Just want to know how it goes!

I am on this cruise so happy to answer any questions 😊

Not specific to the Regal but generic enough that it may cross over to other Princess ships departing from Southampton.

Looks like you embarked at the Mayflower terminal.

1.  Does it make any difference if you have a Medallion in hand or not?

2.  I think Mayflower has seats before check in, then security.  Is there priority check in/waiting area for Elite/Suites?

3.  What time did you arrive/get on the ship?

4.  Is smoking in the casino allowed?

Many, many thanks for taking the time to reply back. I do hope that the weather allows you great sailing.

We embarked the Regal from the Ocean terminal today: disembarkation is via the Mayflower.

1/2/3. We didn't have medallions, but did have assistance due to disability. We dropped our cases at the luggage pods and were onboard within 20 minutes. There were queues, but they were moving quickly. There are plenty of seats available in the terminal.

4. there is smoking in the casino, but it isn't particularly bad (I have a problem with my lungs at present and it hasn't caused me any problems - so far!).

Southampton it makes very little difference with/without medallion as those with loads of US the pick up at port line is often shorter.

If things are going smooth  it can be a walk through with very little waiting unless you are there before boarding starts then you sit in the holding area.

The Terminals Princess use check-in is  before security any priority has been there.

I'm currently on board and can give some updates.

We didn't have our medallions, so when we arrived, we dropped off our luggage and go in line to check in. Despite the app saying we were in the "green" line, the staff told us it didn't matter, as it was just one line. It took about 5 mins to get to the front of the line. We had arrived at noon.

We gave them our passports, they gave us personalized medallions with our names on them, then we're were instructed to sit down till our boarding number was called. That took about 10 mins. Then we went through security, which took about 5 mins.

Our room was ready about 10 mins after we boarded.

We're currently docked in Portland, where it's cool and drizzling.

Oh, and one note about getting to Southampton from London via train...

The train departs from Waterloo, and we took the 1035 train, which got us to Southampton roughly at 1145. Our train had 10 compartments.

Pay attention to what compartment you're supposed to be on, as the train splits into 2 after a certain station. I had a brief heart attack as I did not pay attention to the very confusing instructions, which only started playing a few minutes after everyone had boarded. Luckily everything worked out and we didn't have to move.

The other thing about the train was that it was very fast and efficient. That said, there was not much space for luggage. Everything either had to be stored in the overhead shelf or on your lap. There wasn't anyone available to help store luggage.

That's why we prefer to use the Princess transfer. We like how you hand over your luggage at the bus depot and it magically appears at your cabin door!

We are traveling as a group, and the extra cost was prohibitive. It was only 14 pounds per person to get to Southampton from London (I bought the tickets in April), and it was 10 pounds (tip included) for 4 people for a taxi from the train station to the dock.

Fully understand! Traveling as a group changes many things that can be different if traveling alone or as a couple.
