OC PAT Posted April 8, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2006 I posted earlier and have still not been able to get a hotel on 11/10. I have reviwed the bidding assistance web sites and know I have done what I should. I did get the post cruise night. I checked web sites for the hotels and their rooms are still available. Here's my questions...does Price line have quotas? any suggestions what I should do? Any recommendations for a nice hotel for 100 dollars or less? Your help is greatly appreciated. sford75 Posted April 8, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2006 I got the Marriott for $100. The hotels do have quotas, but then a hotel may release more rooms later if they are available.
serene56 Posted April 8, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2006 Sometimes you jsut cant get priceline to work. I tried every 72 hours up til i sailed and got nothing for fort lauderdale for February. and yes rooms were available in most of the hotels offered on priceline. Kinda dimmed my view on priceline some. It was the first time I ever ran into that make a reservation somewhere and make sure its a cancelable kind. and keep trying priceline. OC PAT Posted April 9, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted April 9, 2006 Appreciate the fast response. Is the Marriot a Resort or 3 star? Was that for November? I think if I have no luck by Easter I will make that reservation that I can cancel. Any other suggestions? OC PAT
serene56 Posted April 9, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2006 The marriot is a resort hotel. Start your bid with a 3 * then if denied add resort and 5.00 and again if denied add boutigue add another 5.00 what was your starting bid? you may be low for the dates. It also may be too early - if denied try again when you got 6 months wait. (another month-) then tryu again at 3 months. SFORD- your bid was accepted for APril.. was this for a later in the month? OC PAT Posted April 9, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted April 9, 2006 Well those who are on my cruise did get the Caribe Hilton for $65.00. Several folks have gotton it already. I did get the post cruise for $65.00 so I do not think I am bidding too low or too early. I have not confirmed that there is a quota but that seems to be the only reason for not getting it. I just don't know if they reopen their quota after a period. I have been trying almost a month in the method that you suggested pretty much. So now I am thinking maybe I have to look at bidding higher for another resort. I just don't know where to start and that's why I was interested in the Marriot. I checked the bidding assistance web sites and the only hotel for resorts mentioned is the Caribe Hilton for that time period. I went back to last November. You help is greatly appreciated. KimmyW Posted April 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 9, 2006 I placed a bid on priceline for a 3 star hotel and I got the Normadie....It is so far away from everything and we were totally not satisfied. The price was 120 per night, which I did not care about, but the location was horrioble. I was able to cancel it at a fee of 150.00 and if I book again with them they will give mebaxk 125.00. however; im afraid that if I try again, I may get the Normandie again.............:(
OC PAT Posted April 9, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted April 9, 2006 Is the Normandie considered in San Juan? I'm not familiar with the hotel and don't recall it listed in PriceLine Hotels for San Juan. When did you post it and when are you going? OC Pat
KimmyW Posted April 9, 2006 #9 Share Posted April 9, 2006 2 weeks ago and its way out of town - if you have a hotel map of sanjuan.....its waaaaaaay on the left of the map, all by itself. Its decor is like the titanic!!! so again, i'm afraid to use priceline again

njoyndride Posted April 10, 2006 #11 Share Posted April 10, 2006 Kimmy - Try choosing Resort instead of 3 star, I got the Marriott for $117 for 4/29, at least you would be able to use your credit.
suznf Posted April 10, 2006 #12 Share Posted April 10, 2006 Here are the list of hotels used by Priceline and Hotwire. I wouldn't bid 3 stars unless you are willing to take any of them. Priceline has changed it's policy and you can now rebid every 24 hours. I start w/San Juan and then add each of the other areas EXCEPT San Juan (Rio Grande - Humacao) None of the other areas have resort hotels, so you cant possibly win one. The problem might be because it is a friday night?? I know how frustrating it is even though the trip is a still a while away. I was having the same problem on our post cruise hotel! Good luck! serene56 Posted April 10, 2006 #13 Share Posted April 10, 2006 OCPat- If several people won their hotel the same night that you are trying. Ask them what they put in and try the same thing. You may be correct in saying they may be at quota. have you tried the hotels to see if there is availabilty? another thing with priceline--try on Tuesday/Wednesday nights

OC PAT Posted May 7, 2006 Author #16 Share Posted May 7, 2006 Well I went up to $130.00 for a resort and got nothing. Since I need to have things in place, now, I looked at numerous sites and bid in Sky Auction. I am able to stay at the Hotel Miramar for $87.00 which includes all fees and taxes. Not one of the greatest hotels but for a precruise night I think we can handle it. I did a search and there are no reviews in cruise critic, Anyone have insight? We can also stay at the Normandie or Radisson Ambassador for $154.00. I have a little time before I make my selection. Any advise? OC PAT
