Safes on board

The Conquest has in-room safes which lock by swiping a card with a magnetic stripe. They say to use a credit card and not your S&S card, but I would like to leave my credit card in the safe when we're running around on the ship. If I leave it in the safe, I can't use it to open it. Any ideas?

Any card with a magnetic stripe on the back will work. Do you have a grocery store card, or a casino players club card? On our 2nd cruise, since we had a gold S&S card, I used my S&S card from the 1st cruise which was the red, white and blue. That way, I never got them mixed up. :)

I just brought a gift card with no cash value on it from a local store. Worked nicely, especially because we ended up losing it by the end of the week. (those inside cabins are HUGE. ) Just had room service open it for us.

We used our AAA card. It took the magnetic reading from the back and we hid it in a suit pocket in the closet ;)

You can use any Card with a Magnetic Strip, like a gift card from Starbucks or one from Best Buy or a video rental store.

Good Luck.

WE also used a S&S card from a previous cruise. The safe can only be opened with the card that was used to lock it so we kept it in one of the dresser drawers in case one of us wanted to get into the safe but the other was the last to use the card and wasn't in the cabin.

Think about who created your Sail & Sign in the first place: The Cruise Line!

You're going to lock your safe with your Room Key? If your cabin steward has a key to your room, he could just as easily have someone's old Sail & Sign card they left behind from your cabin, or perhaps a Master Sail & Sign card?

A Sail & Sign from a different room (or from a former cruise) would probably be OK.

Always try to use a card that you can afford to loose, and one you're sure nobody as a duplicate of.

We used our S&S card..thought that's what it said to use?? 3/06 is when we went and we used that the entire time..left cc's and important docs in safe since we always had to have S&S card with us it worked fine

Last cruise, we traveled with our 2 teenagers in another room. We wanted everyone to be able to open the safe with the same key, so we ordered an extra set of health insurance ID cards. We had a total of 4 identical cards, so we knew that any of us could get into both safes whenever we needed to.

Yes, the Victory has the magnetic card swipe safe. We just got off of the Fantasy today and on that safe you entered a four digit code to access the safe. Didn't have to worry about carrying a card. I kind of liked it that way.
