Am I Imagining Things????

Every post is showing "today" instead of the date and the times also seem to be off. Don't recall ever seeing this on the "Old Boards".
The board settings have been changed so that posts that were made today (in your time) now say "today" rather than give the date. Also posts that were made yesterday now say "yesterday".

Anything that's older than that will still have the full date on.

This makes it much easier to see if a post is recent. You don't have to know today's date to know what has been posted in the last 24-48 hours, especially useful for those of us who regularly lose track of what the date is today (as well as the day of the week). I personally think it's a great help.

If the time seems to be off, remember that the time that the board shows you can be set to your local time. To do this:-

  • Go to your User CP (the link's in the top left hand corner of the page)
  • Then click on Edit Options (in the list on the left hand side of the page)
  • Scroll down to "Date & Time Options" and set your time zone
  • Also have a look at the option for whether you want daylight saving time changes applied automatically
  • Then save changes

And am I imagining that posts are going to page 2 very fast ? are there fewer posts on each page or just more posts ?
The board default is for only 25 threads to be listed on a page. There's no option in the User CP to change this, so threads will drop to page 2 quite fast now.

However, there is a workaround for this which may be useful for very active boards:-

  • Click on the forum name as usual, which will obviously only show 25 threads
  • Then go to the address bar of your browser, where the URL is shown
  • At the end of the URL shown, type in "&pp=100" (without the quotes, of course)
  • Then press enter (or click the Go button)

You should find that the forum list reloads, but this time showing 100 threads in the list instead of 25. Thanks go to Cruise Cat for this one.
