Are you on the March 13th sailing? We are planning on it. Have you started a roll call?

We are, and I did start a roll call, but it was taken over by a high-maintenance broad who even contacted NCL for a M&G on her own (and we both know why - and NCL has designated her as the contact). I haven't been back on the roll call since. One person had checked in once, only to be not heard from again.....

...check out the roll call. ;)

Her contacting NCL for a M&G will do nothing if she proves to be the demanding type. The officers can read people very quickly and if they believe someone is "kissing up " for a "purpose" they are put at arms length very quickly. I have never lead a M&G and seem to get some pretty good VIP treatment. Let's see how the roll call pans out, it is a ways off. But, then again Monte and I are having fun with a roll call for November of 2010.

we had Claudio on the dawn also, I have nothing else to compare to, but he left a lot of room for improvement, he did nothing at all for us until the last day of the cruise, then we got 2 phone calls, 1 checking on us and the other if we got our vip tags for debarkation. It was like having none at all

We recently had the same experience on the Star with Belkys. Her assistant made a few dinner reservations for us and then that was kinda messed up. He called us one night to confirm our reservation for Le Bistro at 7:30 for 4 people, only problem was that our reservation for that night was in La Trattoria at 6:00 for two!

Then Belkys called us at the end with the same questions...then she did escourt us off the ship, which basically meant that she slipped us by about 5 people...no big deal! When DH handed her a tip, she at first refused it (she KNEW she didn't do anything for us), but then took the tip and thanked us.

ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE THAN WITH SIMONE LAST YEAR!

The butler did nothing for us except bring our snacks each night, which is included with a suite cabin. He never did give us a "menu" of snack choices like we got last year.

Then the one time we ordered breakfast in the cabin...well....we ordered it for 6:30 am because we had a 7am shore excursion....which we noted on the order form. We waited as long as we could for it to arrive, even called room service-but no one answered. Then at 5 minutes to 7 as we were leaving the cabin, he showed up. I told him we didn't have time to eat it now, since we had to be on the dock at 7 and his excuse was that he had 3 other breakfast to deliver. So I just took my yogurt off his cart and we dashed off....he made a face at us...but oh well. :(

Anyway...how do you find out who is on the ship at any given time?

Definately, we met her last week. She said she'll be there till November.

Right, she and Andreas are getting married Dec. 5th.

Did she say when or if she was returning to the Star after the wedding??

I would love to know as well. We are onboard Aug 9.

I do know Hugo is on vacation until the end of Aug and Rosita Shandy is covering as HD.

Anshuman, Concierge, is on until Sept 27. Captain Svedung returns Sept 27. Hugo will be back by then. Jose and Patti too in early September--fantastic entertainers...do NOT miss them if they are onboard !! Friends who sailed the Dawn last week report that Captain Knorring is onboard with John the cruise director--the pancakes and sausages guy, and Dave Heenan the comedian. One of our favorites is on until the end of August--Joel Dizon, assistant cruise director. He has the most amazing singing voice--catch him at the crew show. Rosita is Hotel Director. Too much information?? Sorry, but to us the best part of Cruise Critic is finding our where everyone is!! Two of our very favorites are on too--many know them--bar servers--Chona and Timea (Timmy), and they will be on at least until September. If you are a frequent Dawn cruiser, you will find MANY familiar faces--they all seem to have come "home". They ALL want to be with Hugo, so they try to stay.

Great post! Certainly not "too much" information, as it's just what I was looking for and wish more returning passengers would do. Thanks!!

Timea is one of our fav's along with her BF Paul. He works on the pool deck. Also, a bar server. We also love Anshuman and Hugo to death ! Can't wait to see them all on 9/13. Yipee!

Ok--if not too much--sorry I forgot dear Paul--who IS a doll--and will be on at least until September--and we love the St Lucia crowd. Sadly the energetic Trish just left, but check out Sidney (formerly on the Gem)--assistant cruise director--a real trip--on our last cruise he was wearing an official NCL crew badge that said "President Barack Obama" !!--and the very tall and wonderful Lance, who was at the pool in early June. So far as we can tell, everyone from St Lucia is handsome or beautiful and FULL of personality !! Hugo agrees...The wonderful Ravi will be off by September (leaving sometime in August), but we think Anoop and Huda will still be onboard. Many know George in the casino bar, (did we meet on the Gem or the Jewel?? Forget) he will still be on in September. Lorelei was at the Bimini Bar--full of mischief. The sweet Rowena in the casino bar. Timea was stuck at the sake bar and would like to escape!! Chona last week in Dazzles and at the pool. We will try to make it a point in September to make a list for all of you. Always mean to do that, and then forget!! NOW is it too much???

Ericktina:

You mentioned the St. Lucia crowd - is there still a server named Felix on the Dawn? We loved Felix, he was so nice to our young granddaughter, called her his "baby doll".

RichNY:

Doing fine! Been busy as heck, and still have not checked out your roll call to see what you may have posted about Alaska. We're still hoping to go on the Dawn to Bermuda on 10/4, but still have not booked. We did book the Epic for 10/9/2010. When we were on the Spirit, and got to thinking about how many staffers we might know on the Epic, we decided to book it. I have seen some "talk" about who might be on there when it first sails, but haven't recognized anyone that we knew.

We have a big day tomorrow, as one of our year old twin granddaughters is facing some surgery on her skull, a preventative process which will correct a problem which might otherwise restrict the growth of her brain. It's fairly routine for the Dr.s involved, but not so good on the family, especially the parents. Everyone is quite optimistic, but it will still be a couple of rough days seeing her post surgery. I guess by the fourth day, especially if she is at home, she will be in pretty good shape.

She will be in our prayers...good luck.

Alaska-We had a fantastic time.

Just to update Alyssa's status: her "Crainiosynatosis" surgery went as well as everyone could have expected, including the doctors and her attending nurse in ICU, and we got to see her mid afternoon. Other than the narrow bandage on her head covering the incision, she looked quite normal, though we knew that swelling would soon take place.

Saturday was very discomforting for everyone, as the swelling caused her eyes to close, and of course took her out of her comfort zone. Nothing unexpected took place, and it was just a long day on the road to recovering.

Sunday was different, as one eye reopened, and she began to eat and drink regular food, and mid day she was playing with two young cousins. She began to walk around, assisted for safety sake, and continued this all day. Her twin sister Brooke came to see her and tried to rip off her bandage, but it was great for the parents to see them together.

I think that Tuesday will likely be the day she will go home, and the outlook will be this whole blip in her road of life will be nearly over, and the episode will hopefully become a distant memory, except for Alyssa, who will not remember anything.

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers, and everyone else who has done the same. We hope one day that Alyssa and Brooke will join us on a cruise. Look our Kids Crew!!

Any recent cruisers have any updated information on key staffers like the Hotel Director, Concierge, Butler, Cruise Director, top entertainers, etc.? Many CCers with upcoming cruises like to know such information to see who might be onboard when they sail.

Thanks

We are going on the Star in late November. Wondering if Simone will still be there. We had the pleasure of meeting her on our January cruise. She made our cruise absolutely wonderful. If she is going to be gone for her wedding does anyone know who will take her place now that the drydock has been postponed?
